I have the Name of the person signing the EG letter, is there anyone I should send it to ? or should I just forget it,
have been publically told at the Club I was wrong in claiming comps were still qualifiers and to mind my own business in future, I would like to correct things and get the EG to correct it in writing.

The confirmation is in fact hidden away in the small print.

17.1 Scores to be recorded on a Player’s Handicap Record are:

(e) scores returned in a Qualifying Competition played over a Measured Course when Local Rules are in operation for preferred lies (as permitted by Clause 15) or for any other purpose, provided the rules are in compliance with Appendix 1 of the Rules of Golf or associated guidance notes or have been approved by the R&A Rules Limited;

As you can see, 'preferred lies' is the oddball.

Oddly, EG knew the rule (of course) but didn't know exactly where it was until I prompted them.
