Don't care if you agree with them or not , in your opinion as someone who has used them , which GPS do you think is the better and why please. Mine is about to die and will look to get another soon. Not interested in Lazer. Don't care about flash , front, centre and back of green would be fine.

Cheers

I'm quite happy with the Garmin S1, gives front middle and back and has proved quite reliable when checked against other devices. Only issues I have with it are the condensation in cold weather that seems to be a known issue and the 8 hour battery life as I will do at least 6 36 hole events a year. It's available quite cheap now. Can't compare with any others as it is the only one I've used and all my playing partners seem to have the same model. Hope that helps.

Skycaddy SGX. I had the top of the range Garmin and didn't get on with it. I found some of the distances way out but as SC are mapped on foot I do have more trust. Maybe just a personal thing.

I've had Skycaddies and like you only want F/M/B so the Garmin S1 is perfect, The S2 or S3 if you want a bit more info.

The watch route is the way to go as long as you're happy wearing a watch!
Personally I don't so I have a Garmin G3(I think).
Probably more info on it than you're looking for but a good alternative to the Wrist Strappers!!

Having been stung by a small brand I'd say go with one of the big names. The customer support and mapping of my GPS was great until they went belly up. Skycaddie do seem to have have the best rep for accuracy though so getting any of their sub free models should be a good call.

Personally considering a skycaddie SGX when I come to replacing mine.

Are you aware B in M that they now do a car charger for the S1 watch. Although not cheap about £25 I think, it may help you when doing 36 holes.

I have the SGX and can vouch that the distances are bang on, good layout plans which help on new courses and very easy to use, I'd say it saves me around 10 seconds per shot outside 50 yards, inside that distance I dont know how far I hit each club accurately enough to use it.

The only dowside to a lot of SC products are the annual charges

I've got the garmin S3 which is very good with free course downloads and is very accurate but it can eat up batteries and is a tad bulky compared to the watch which is what I would buy now given the choice.

I know someone who doesn't like wearing a watch so he just attaches it to his bag handle

I meant to also state I'm happy wearing a watch (for the time) but didnt like the GPS on my wrist, it straps on nicely to a trolley handle:thup: or bag as Woody states.

As a complete newbie to both golf and gps in general I bought myself a garmin g6 midway through the season, it was easy enough to set-up and use but found it a bit too noticeable if you know I mean, if I had it in my pocket I could feel it, and if it was clipped to my trolley it was a bit of a pain trying to line my trolley up next to the tee as some of our tees are elevated.
I've now decided to go for just a simple watch that give front, middle and back (garmin s1)
