Light The Blue Touch Paper

I've very limited experience but on my putter fitting the stats for two putters were very similar. As that was the case the Pro said I should go with what I liked the look of.

HJS, there is nothing that gets the juices flowing like new bats.....your spending a wedge so take your time and try as many model/shaft combos as you see fit. Fwiw, I think trilling clubs over a few sessions is a good thing as us h/cap golfers swing differently from one day too the next !!

Surprised we haven't heard how yesterday's fitting session went!

Must mean inconclusive/G25s still winning!

Badly. Didn't have the clubs I wanted to hit in stock in anything but stock R and S and they measured me for 2 degrees upright but my teaching pro said standard loft and lie would suffice Was in and out of a supposedly 60 minute session inside 20. Have a cunning plan for next weekend as Ascot is down to 12 holes and a logistical nightmare to get near and so I won't be playing. TM on offer plus Ping and Cally. Last call for all protaganists.

Martin, I bought a house, met a girl, got married and had my first child in less time than you are taking to buy the bluddy irons. Just pick a set you like the look of, try a range of shafts and buy the best combination.

Listening to people harp on about the differences in clubs is like watching someone pick the best road bike in Evans. Mate, that extra 50 grams ain't gonna make much difference if you keep hitting Burger King for your dinner!!!!!!!

Haha get off that fence and tell us what you really really think:)

Homer, have you considered any of the mizuno irons?

I've got the jpx 800 pro's and they look so good at address and are plenty forgiving for me. I think the newer 825s will only be an improvement.

The mp54/64 combination look superb too.

Now that's one industry that makes the golf marketing machine pale into insignificance

& I bet you made less fuss about it all aswell:whistle:

Homer I posted a couple of weeks ago about the Callaway X hot irons - I don't think you can go far wrong with them IMO.

The pro at my place has just ordered his set and he has tested a bunch of different irons. He's a teaching professional and he wanted forgiveness in his irons!

I came close to buying a set myself at the Cally demo day , they were noticeably easier to hit than my AP2 and longer. I held off because I wanted a second opinion on fitting before I commit to what is essentially a fairly major purchase. I'm pretty certain that the X Hot Pro with the S300 shaft will be my next set just need to check the fine tuning such as grip thickness, length, lie etc.

Also I didn't see the short irons on test so would like to see just how thick or clunky they may look at address. I like Ethan's suggestion of perhaps mixing and matching and go with forged from say 8I onwards.

Take your time Homer ignore the hecklers!

Sounds a frustrating 2nd fitting expierience, just to throw a curve ball in maybe consider going to an independant such as Precsion where you can try and the different makes and shaft combos at the same time?
