Life's oddities - mobile phones

As far as understanding technology goes, I wish most people had a greater knowledge of how their cars work as that is more likely to impact me, quite literally, than what they choose to do with their phone.

I know exactly how a car works, the only problem is you need a computer to fix them!

I did look into moving the switch but my walls are rock hard. It would be more work than it's worth. The door is also a no go. We had the loft done over winter and the door was replaced

Can't change the way it swings as in it goes into living room can't go out because our arches are built into the walls.. the builder had to pack the door frame out with pine wood to fit the fire door because it would have been s complete re plaster job for the sake of even fitting the doors to existing frames.

Same with turning the door to open inwards the other way it would open onto another door that's the under stairs cupboard

As u can see you have to walk round the door to get to the switch and that door there is in way to open other way

However that pic is old as that's the old door
You need to invite Kirstie Allsop round. She would soon redesign your downstairs and sort it all out ?

You might, plenty don't. We had an issue with foxes going through brake lines, so let the neighbours know. Most didn't seem to know what a static brake test, but I was reliably informed by the woman next door that this wouldn't be an issue to her as her car was a automatic...

Banking is so useful for sending money to the correct place. Paying mates for things. Cash is outdated as are cheques .. however if I do get s cheque from old people or outdated companies I can cash them in on my banking app no need to go down the bank. Or have a video meeting with a bank manager rather than having to go down.

TV so I can watch TV on my phone on trains or when bored

Video calling is brilliant and during covid has been great way of seeing friends or keeping in touch.. weekly video calls with my mum and my daughter so she can see her nan

The world is changing . Either adapt or get left behind
I'm intrigued. Which bank's banking app is that?

These days, the only time we go to the bank is to cash in cheques - which is a real PITA.

I use Starling for cheques , the wife has Barclays, their apps allow cheques by photo. I should also add using their apps we have no need to wait days for it to clear, the funds are instantly accessible.

Lloyds, Barclays, HSBC, Yorkshire, HalifaxBOS, Clydesdale all have it.

Always something I've done. Is if a bank has something I want I will open an account just to use that and move the money out to my real bank

Forgot I had a Tesco saving account as I haven't got to use yet

Only got to pay in notes at Tesco then move to my bank

I run the work tuck shop so sometimes have notes which would be more handy Inna bank

Totally the right play, there's no reason to have 1 bank account anymore.

Oh no what have you started lol all the people will with bank account with now give their opinions on the subject and we will have another split debate like the need for apps lol

I agree, I opened an account last year purely because it meant i could spend or withdraw £250 a day abroad using their card without any charges on purchases or withdrawals and was guaranteed to always be at the best exchange rate. It saved me taking any case or travellers cheques or visits to bureau exchange. Made travelling and spending safely much easier.
