Leicester City 2016/17

I think mid table possibly top 8 would be good , all depends on which players stay and who they bring in

Don't think they will join this group

I think many of you are over estimating Leicester. Money and a good season doesn't always mean success the following season. Just ask Liverpool and Spurs over recent years not to mention the nonsense that was Chelsea last season who did well to recover to where they finished.

I'd love to see the fairytale of Leicester continue but really can't see it especially if they get an early run of tough away fixtures.

33/1 to go down next season, that is a decent bet.

I agree, more so based on the poor points tally of all the top 4-6, we had a poor-ish season last year and won with 87 points, 71 & 70 points only just made top 4 never mind 2nd, the season before Everton finished 5th with 72 and the year before that Spurs with 72. So the top 3 points this season would normally be fighting over 4th, 5th or even 6th at best, this tells me that everyone under performed and if we saw a winning team in the high 80's or 90's and 4th being around mid 70's, I think a few of those that shone this season will be found wanting next season even more!

They're not going to get relegated with the likes of West brom, Watford, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth etc about, team has a lot of internationalists now, still without egos, and are used to winning. Top 7 for me.

If they strengthen their squad, which I expect them to do as their owners aren't shy in splashing the cash if needs be, they did it to win promotion so I expect them to do it to again and build a squad to maintain a constant top half finish and push for Europe and getting to cup finals, they have it in them to be top 8 club comfortably with this foundation along with a few tweaks, if any key players leave and there's not much investment, then normal service will be resumed.

Think that's pretty much spot on.

Wish them all the best, but I expect them to be in with the likes of West Ham and Southampton competing in the 7-9th bracket. I think the majority of Leicester fans would be content with this outcome.

Was actually searching for a thread I started about final league positions for this year when I came across this thread. Looks like Val was the most accurate with his prediction.

P.S. If anyone can find the thread I started it would be much appreciated as I can't remember what it was called and can't find it with the search option. It was to predict the top 4 (or possibly 6) and the bottom 3 in the PL this season.

This year was always going to be tough and as much as I believe many players need to look themselves inn he mirror for their form this season.

I do think they'll stay up but not by much.

I agree with the OP Leicester will probably finish around mid-table next season.

1. They probably wont keep all their players, 1-2 might go.
2. Extra games with the CL will put strain on squad and be a distraction.
3. They cant have the same good fortune with injuries next season. Plus some players will probably not reach quite the same level as they did this season.
4. Opponents will learn how to play against them (Arsenal already know how ;))
5. Adding more players will be tricky and choosing the wrong ones could be detrimental to the way Leicester play.

Mine weren't bad and with a strong finish Leicester will end up mid table.

Kante left.

Mahrez and Vardy underperformed.

Opponents do sit deeper now and not allow space for Vardy to run in behind.

Players added like Musa and Slimani have been disappointing.

We've struggled but I also think Ranieri returned to type, changing and tinkering. We had a terrible pre season with all this champions cup stuff and players back later after the euros. That said if we'd played like we are now from the beginning we'd easily be top ten. New signings haven't really worked, mendy has been injured most of the season, Musa just hasn't cut it or had the work ethic. Slinani on his day has been awesome just inconsistent and been injured. Throw in half the team not performing and having tactics they had no idea what to do with. Anyway rant over most of the mistakes have been basics but we seem to have steadied now.

Another battling win and looks like the season has finally kicked in and I can't see you getting dragged into any end of season relegation dogfight. Will be hard to keep hold of some, especially Schmeichal and one or two others

We are 6 points clear now, playing more like last season, I'd like to think we are safe but in football you never know. I've a sneaky feeling Watford could get sucked into the fight. I think boro and Sunderland are gone and it's a fight to stay out of the remaining position.

I'm a Foxes fan too Evesdad.......relocated with work now but used to go regularly when I lived in Leicestershire.

Like you, am hopeful this has been the turning point and although it generated some really bad publicity and social media feedback, shows that the owners might well have been right in their decision to replace Ranieri. Whilst I love the guy and what he did, another 2 or 3 games with him in charge could have seen them right in the relegation mix.

Should never have been allowed in the PL - shame too many other bad teams so they won't go down until next season. Tin pot team!

We won the championship at a canter but then shouldn't be allowed into the prem, really? We may not be the biggest and brightest but come on, we didn't win it with a coin toss. We won over a season fair and square.
