Hi All.

This may fall on deaf ears as I am aware the vast majority of people are right handed...or normal!

But is there anybody who is left handed, or play with people who are left handed, and know where they get their gear from?

Trying clubs out is extremely difficult for me, being left handed, and I am in the market for a putter at the moment. Fittingly, www.lefthandedgolf.co.uk is absolutely fantastic. As their strapline says, giving left handed golfers a right handed choice. Once I have a club in mind, they are cheaper than anywhere I have seen, and the range is brilliant, and I genuinely cannot fault them at all. However, the problem of trying clubs before purchasing remains.

So, does anyone have this problem, play with somebody with this problem, or know where to go that has a big selection instore for lefties? Being left handed is an impediment sometimes!

Appreciated.

i also stand the other side of the ball and bought my Mizzy irons and wedges from fleabay and the rest of my clubs are from Direct Golf.

i have lost count of the number of clubs i have bought, used, hated, and sold after a few months.

My brother is a leftie as were 2 of my previous playing partners. They all had the same problem. Even the big name golf shops only had a very limited number of left handed options. My brother also gave up and started using left hand golf.

I am also 6ft 3, and about to start taking my Golf more seriously. I know this means my next set of irons (sometime in summer) will have to be custom fit, but in terms of wedges, i grip down anyway and I'm not a good enough player to get those fitted so will buy those off the shelf. Same with Hybrids and fairway woods, for now.

Based on my height, and the fact I can't really try before I buy with putters, I am nervous about what size putter I should be going for....thinking 34" or 35" but not sure!

They're really good in fairness, but of course the trying out of clubs is priceless.

My little fella is showing signs of being left-handed. He's 4 next month but we're not sure which way he's going to fall.

He has a left and right handed putter.
When he goes to the putting green in the park he goes round left handed for the first 9, then picks up his right handed putter and goes round again with bemused looks from anyone there.

I've been looking for cheap left handed lofted clubs for ages but they cost a fair whack especially as he may go the other way. There's tonnes of right handed clubs out there for him.

Not exactly the same problem but can see where you're coming from.

Firstly, have you tried using right handed clubs and playing backhand ?

It may be difficult to try clubs out, however buying good second hand stuff is brilliant if you are left handed, as it is about half the price. have a look on ebay, and you will see what I mean

Really? Interesting.

I was told anybody over 6ft should really be getting custom fitted, at least for the irons anyway.

Will bear that in mind, Dando, what inch is your putter mate?

i will check when i get home but my current Scotty Cameron is a lot shorter than my old Ping and it feels more natural to have a shorter length putter

Get down to their Shop at Silvermere - they have everything there and you can try.

I'm a lefty and have got on OK. Lefthand golf is brilliant for buying of the shelf. Also when every I've been fitted I tended to narrow the choice of club down then find someone local who could fit me for it. Agree that it's not easy to try before you buy, but there are places like lefthanded golf and others that have a good range.

I'm left handed but can't answer your putter question as I put right handed with a left hand low grip which I've done for year and years, no Speith etc copy me :p

Lefthanded golf are the best outlet for our gear. Their shop has every club you'd wish for in every option you could ever need. I live an hour an half away but I took the time to go there for my fitting, I paid £25 for a session with the pro and got custome fitted for my irons. I didn't order from them in the end, rather the local pro I have lessons with based on local service and a slight discount on LHG's price. but everytime I drive past on the M25 I nip in and have a chat with them, just to see what they might have on offer (the other golf shop at silvermere has a decent clothes section so thats worth a look too) They're good blokes and they all know me now ive been in so much. I'm now looking at some wedges they have on offer. I'd have no hesitation buying from them, even though we have pretty much choice either ha ha.

The only other place ive bought clubs from is Golfbidder, if the price is right for the 2nd hand market and the club is in good condition then they've also been good for my driver and 5 wood. They also buy your old clubs off you which is a good service as it means no faffing with ebay.

Just realised their place is in Surrey, so not too far from me (about 75 mins drive) so will probably head down there at some point soon!
