A simple question I think - being a right handed player how straight should my left arm remain throughout my backswing?

Your assistance would be appreciated.

Cheers.

Wouldn't want to try to answer the question in case my unqualified opinion is wrong, but welcome to the forums :)

What part of the Midlands are you from?

My left arm starts straight at set up and i try to keep it straight through the backswing and into impact, the once through the ball my right arm becomes straight-ifeel it give me more control over my shots

You might struggle to get to the top of your backswing at first but with some muscle stretching you could do it

As straight as you can manage.

If you find a way to turn a distinctly not-straight left arm into a bolt straight pro-style arm, let us know.

I've been trying to improve this for 15 years. You CAN hit the ball perfectly well with a less-than-perfect left arm, as long as you have some half decent width.

so that's what doing it. my left arm starts back with the best intentions of being straight then gets decidedly not so. if I get too close to the ball (narrow?) awful hooky things result. if I get too wide, well best left to the imagination.

Thanks for the replies, think it's a case of keeping the arm as straight as I possibly can then.

Oh and to respond to a previous post I live near to the Belfry Golf Centre.

Cheers.
