I'll be entering the singles this year, I had to withdraw last year due to my injury, but, I really fancy entering the pairs BB format this time also, living in the Midlands I suppose I can choose to enter either the North or South and although I'd have to play off 18 as a starting point, with the new 9/10th allowance I do believe, if my maths are correct, that I'd be playing off 16, which is 1 more shot better than 3/4's of 20 (official handicap) and 2 better than 3/4's of 18, so it's a win win :o

So, I have my horse, straw and sombrero but who would like to partner me in either the North or South, please all (if I get more than 1 reply) state North or South and your handicap and I'll choose a partner in a few days, maybe straight after the weekend, so sell yourself

I entered the singles this year, won my league but bombed at the regional finals, would be honoured to partner you in the south as I play at WGC GC.

I'm not sure you enter it as north or south. The regionals are north/south (can't remember when you choose which one if successful) but the draw is done by home course location.

Anyway, if you want a cat1 that is usually pretty steady and a good stooge to a streaky player, although has been known to have ridiculously bad days which would leave you 2 v 1, and can probably only make Sunday's, then I'm yer man.

wouldve loved to had you on my side in the YOTF sadly a) im crocked yet again (and may be longer term this time) and b) the above offer should be too good to turn down lol. not sure too many would fancy playing you 2 as a pair thats for sure

When, where (in the south) and how much?

It's like the national matchplay comps in that you organise your own matches and gree fees are either split or courtesy given, except it's a round robin so most likely 4 matches to play - 2 home and 2 away.
Cost is about £40 each to enter, plus any green fees you have to pay or split.

Yeah it seems I've cocked up a bit, I sent them an email yesterday as I posted this and the reply I have received last night is as Gary states, your placed into a "local" league of 4 x players/teams and play 2 at home and 2 away, if the players in a pairing have 2 different clubs then a home club has to be declared, then the winners of each mini-league goes forward to the regionals which are then North, South & Scotland.

So, I'm sorry I can't choose to be in the North or South and they wouldn't be able to pick local opposition if 2 players were so far apart so I think I'll have to look more closer to home unfortunately, I hope you understand ArnoldArmChewer, but I'm happy to come down and play with you next season maybe in a member guest comp, RickG can vouch for me as a partner :smirk:

No problem Robin, you will be welcome to come and play at WGC GC anytime,

If you are still struggling to get a partner let me know as Birmingham's not so far and its only once a month. I thought the league was well organised last year & I will enter the singles again next season

Ok Gary, with you being in my local area I accept and would love to have you as my partner, we can sort out the finer details next Saturday 👍
