Well, went to the range to hit 50 balls before heading down to AG. Took 35 balls to get going but then hitting it pretty solid. Amazing how rusty you can get.

I went to AG and they got all set up with their launch monitor. Hit several with my current driver. They didn't feel too bad but the launch monitor was telling me they were garbage. 104 swing speed, 8 degree push, 2500 side spin slice and 4500 back spin. Only thing ok was the launch angle @ 14 degrees. Finally I managed to get the launch monitor to like one of mine. I actually got 0 degrees side spin!

Then had even worse results with the 9 degree Rapture by which time I was getting fed up as the feedback the launch monitor was not reflecting my feel of the shots at all.

Tried the G15 in a 10.5 degree stiff shaft and slightly better results but not better than my G2.

The guy (who was very helpful) told me that he didn't think I should be replacing the driver at the moment.

Lesson learned? Go somewhere where you can hit the thing and see how it performs in the air.

On the positive side of things, while I was at the range I watched the Pro there tell this guy that the graphite shafted I15s that he'd bought for £150 were fakes. Ouch.

I also had a few hits with the G15 (fat and ugly), I15 (nice) and the S57 (gorgeous) so there's something to think about. I'm probably not good enough for the S57s but, god, they're beautiful at address!

I have been fit on a LM for a cobra L4V, a TM super quad, and a 909.

The one thing I can say is, you can't go on what you feel, and certainly not on what you see. I thought I was really nailing the TM, but the stats were terrible. Unless you can walk down the range and measure them, anything over about 220 yards is so far away you have no idea how they have run out. If at all.

I think that's a fair point. Based on previous comments and my experience over the last couple of days, I'm not sure how accurate the AG one is. It certainly didn't impress me much.

Perhaps, I might book a session at Ping (only just over the river from me) to check out my irons and see if I could hit a few drivers at the same time.

The only time I've ever been on a golf shop LM it was telling me I was hitting a 6 iron 190yds, which is about 20yds too far for me.

I didn't believe it, but at least it gives you a means of comparing different clubs relative to each other if you're not on a range.

i went on the launch monitor last week to get fitted up for a driver,i have way too much sidespin and was fitted to a titleist 909d3 and told to use pro v1x or another low spinning ball,i hit the ball longish but my drives with my r9 were registering between 200 and 210 yrds carry yet with the 909 it was 235 yrds carry also with the change of balls i could expect a further 6 yrds approx,i am very consistant with my 3 wood (r9)off the deck and the tee and hit it straight it also goes further than the driver at the minute,my new driver will be here this coming week so we'll have to sse how it goes.obviously those distances will improve with the weather etc,the pro who fitted me did say not to worry about the distances because they were good enough for the time of year and conditions we have at the moment.the 909 will have a diamana blue stiff shaft and its 10.5 degree loft.

Are you saying that the weather effected the readings on the launch monitor??
