Well I am made redundant at the end of next week, then have a weeks gardening leave next week (how generous of them!!) so this is my last week, and boy it is dragging soooo slow since most of the work has moved to Manchester and as we go through the week it becomes less and less and each minute feels like two and all I want to do is play golf and get the flock out of here…

I've been job hunting everyday online and have a few things in the air, but the worst is the wife was booing at work the other day as I didnt realise how badly this redundancy had affected her :(

Really sorry to hear that Parmo. I've just started work again having been out for 8 months, and I know how tough it can be for everyone in the family to deal with. Don't know what industry you're in, but fingers crossed you'll get something sorted out sooner rather than later. My good lady has been simply amazing over the past months, working all the hours God sent while I was looking after my two girls, and I'm sure you and your wife will do whatever it takes in order to keep things on an even keel.

Keep your chin up; it'll get better and think of all the golf you can play while you're "resting" ;)

Sorry to hear this, Parmo. I have been made redundant several times in the past, so I know exactly how you feel.

Bets of luck in finding a new job. What do you do? If I hear of anything suitable at my place I'll let you know.

It's [****]! I don't often us bad language on here, but this whole situation sucks! I've been 'out' for 6 months now. The time with the the kids has been amazing, but I was going out of my mind not having a focus like I do at work. Thus why I'm starting my own business.

I wish you all the best. Good luck.

Sorry to here that news. My wife lost her job on 31st December and didn't find anything until April this year but absolutely hates the new role and has been in tears several times. She's trying so hard to find a better role but sadly there isn't much around on a salary that would help cover the mortgage and other outgoings. I know your wife knows it isn't your fault and will be really supportive. That is what a partnership is all about. I hope you find something soon but make sure you use golf as an escape valve!

I agree with all the above, it's such a shitty time workwise for so many.

I'm not in a disimilar position - my shop went busto last year and it has caused ( is still causing ) no end of financial and emotional problems. Which is why even an occasional round of golf ( I think I've managed 5 or 6 this season ), and you guys on here, have been such a great boost for me.

If you can afford to keep up the golf membership do it. Coz having that regular escape route is priceless. BUT make sure the mrs has got her escape too. If there's any danger of the golf taking money away from essentials then it may well cause resentment between you both. And I'm sure she is more important to you than just a few sticks and a wee white bally.

Keep your pecker up.

Pecker is up and running...

Yeah I bought a council season ticket that covers 5 tracks in Leeds and the wife also plays (to a degree!!) and so on Sunday I am marking her 3rd hcp card. I think the season ticket without club subs was £362 for the 5 tracks, in fact the one with 2x18 is next to where Keefg lives, I was sure I spotted him nicking balls over the brow of the hill ;)

I take it you mean Temple Newsam?

Maybe you, Keefg and myself should get together for a round there? I've always rated it as a good course, especially the Lord Irwin.

I'm playing 9 holes at Wike Ridge this Saturday, but should get a pass from the wife in 3 weeks or so for another game.

Yeah that would be great, not played Temple yet but look forward to it.

Got a 4 ball better ball on Sat at Roundhay so my swing rebuild will have to start on Sunday.

You are in for a treat at Tempsy, if it were a private track it would be one of the best in yorkshire. Good course, challenging. Try to avoid the school holidays though too many kids messing about on the course.
