Lasers over 150 yards

So after seeing on a thread on here the snooper at £75 on ebay I though I'd buy myself a bargain.

Got to use it on Saturday and was decent enough- especially 50-100 yards,

Over 100 yards I was finding it sometimes a bit hard to hone in with my hands shaking a bit- over 150 yards near impossible with the flag being so much smaller... the cold weather obviously not helping

Is there a technique to stop shaking when trying to get the distance? (I'd be a rubbish sniper)

Do other laser users find this a problem?

Has this model got 'pin seeker' technology ie. it locks onto the flag? If not, I guess it could be a bit tricky. All I can suggest is a slug from your hip flask just before using it outside of 100 yards :thup:

The snooper laser is good VFM however it doesn't have pinseeker so you need to range around to accurately locate the flag + a steady hand is required. I upgraded to a Bushnell V3 which is easier to lock onto the target. try utilising your trolley handle as a base to steady your hands.

Ive got a 5 year old bushnell which i think has got pin seeker, which helps.

don't have a problem from 150 maybe 250 if its windy.

might be a case of you get what you pay for?

I use my Garmin watch for >125yds as I am mainly looking at centre of the green at this range.
My laser only really comes into its own (for me) <100yards as it helps me decide which wedge/swing to go for.

>125yds I take the back of the green yardage, and club within that distance.

I have a laser which I use when shooting, excellent for bunnies up to 100+ yards, but no good for flagsticks. But then it only cost £50. As said, you pays your money....

yep we have two par 5's on the back 9 that are reachable is two quite easily downwind, even with a hybrid or 3 wood off the tee (leaves you short of the trouble)

If it's the SLDR500 then it definitely does have pin seeker tech, I have one.

Works perfectly fine, by following the instructions and swiping across the flag ... unless your incredibly shaky.

I usually aim at something behind the flag and then swipe across the flag ... you'll then see the distance change from 170 to 145 for example, and hence you'll know you've found the flag.

I got one of these as well. I had the same problem initially just trying to aim at the flag and lasering it.

If you swipe back and forth it'll pick it up.

I found out the hard way on Sunday. Lasered the flag at 90y, hit the perfect gap wedge only for it to come up 30y short onto the bank in front of the green I accidentally lasered. DOH.

What I do when I cant get a good lock quickly is to press and hold the scan button on mine so it constantly fires back live readings and keep half an eye on the numbers. So say the flag was 185 yards but the bushes or whatever was another 40 yards further away, Id take live readings of the bushes then slowly strafe the flag with the button pressed until the numbers flickered onto the actual flag yardage, sometimes you need to be quick though to see the numbers.

ah ha so basically I have been doing something wrong- I will try the hold and swipe technique. Its the 500 version

Yeah, you need to push and hold the button. Took me a few shots to realise that as well.

No not at all, maybe it's not very good?

I use a Bushnell, can pick up a flag up to around 300 yds

Harsh, have you ever owned one?

OP, are you using it in pin seeker mode ( I think that's what it is called), it seems much better, I've never had a problem at any distance even with my wobbly hands &#128512;

Takes 2 or 3 rounds to get the technique (or lose the shakes) right.

All the ones I've had have had 'Pinseeker' or Nikon's equivalent software. That's really only holds the 'Nearest Target Priority' reading rather than the 'Furthest Target Priority' one used for hunting ones.
