Laser rangefinder decision?

I had a V2, it's a great bit of kit. The battery indicator thingy is rubbish but the batteries are cheap enough and carrying a spare isn't a problem. The scan function is next to useless IMHO. I sold it and got a GPS instead. Knowing exactly where the pin is is great, but only if you can hit that distance consistently. Knowing where the front and back of the green and hazards are is much more useful to the average golfer.

IMvHO having used both, GPS is a better option than laser for most of us.

My GPS gives front middle and back distances but in getting rathèr frustrated with not actually knowing where the pin is, going in say 140 yards to a pin that looks front ish only to realise the pin is 20 yards on is starting to wind me up!

I've trikes the hillman and didn't like it, seriously considering demo'ing a v2/v3

Have a Bushnell Z6 and its excellent, had it over a year and the battery not needed changing yet, slight more magnified than the V2/3 so slightly easier to get the target.

Good tip for making sure you are zapping the pin and not something behind it I find is to deliberately zap something behind the flag, usually a tree or hedge and then zap the pin after obviously expecting the pin yardage to generally be 20 or 30 yards less than the first distance zapped, gives me the confidence I have the right number every time

Only prob I have had is the case is falling to pieces and if im not careful im gonna lose the laser out the bottom of it one day soon! Anyone know where you can get a new bushnell case?

I would try ebay. Even if you don't find an exact replica, you will get something that does the job.

Have a V3 and it's superb - Golf Buddy GPS is hardly used now
