Laser Eye Surgery

I finally decided to go for it. I know it corrects you perfectly if you're shortsighted but I'm -2.75 in each eye and also a bit astigmatic. The latter is worrying me. The surgeon said results are good for that as well but not as astonishing as for the myopia.

Is there any astigmatic person out there who went for this procedure? Feedback?

Main reason being that I don't see some of my balls... easy joke here...

I had an astigamatism, most people do as far as I understand. My laser surgery was about 7 years ago and my distance vision is still fantastic. I use reading glasses but was advised, due to my age that I would.

My shortsightedness prescription was similar to yours and after the lasering I could read the bottom line of the chart within a few days.

Please dont consider a Vision Express type of shop to have it done. Go to someone where the person carrying out the surgery has done a high number of treatments personally

I used Advanced Visioncare in Harley Street and they wern't any dearer than the other places who quote rediculously low initial prices to get you through the door but add all sorts of extras in the end

Slightly off track, but I had my routine eye test last year, and was then referred to a specialist. It appears that I have a problem in both eyes, which means that I will at some time get a detached retina, which will need immediate treatment. Rather scarily the specialist told me that if not treated within three days I will lose my sight.

Likelihood it will not happen for years, but I now know that I have a problem, which I would not have known about without the skill of the optician I originally saw. Even the specialist was impressed with that my problem was spotted at such an early stage.

I therefore fully recommend that anyone who doesn't have a regular eye test does so, even if you think your sight is perfect.

Thanks for your answer. I booked a consultation with a company called Ultralase in Harley St. Three of my mates did it there and they are extremely satisfied but they only had to correct shortsight, hence my concerns about astigmatism.

I'm really looking forward to it now.

Had mine done 10 years ago. I was short sighted with astigmatism in my right eye.
Results over the first 8 years has been great, howver, the last 2 years has seen a regression of the sight in my right eye (not sure if this is linked to the astigmatism or not?). I now need to use glasses to watch TV, use PC etc. I also wear 1 contact lense when I play golf. My left eye remains aboslutely perfect.

Admiitedly this was 10 years ago and I'm sure that technology has progressed since then - just something to be considerate of.

My surgeon said that the astigmatism would go with the surgery, that I would need reading glasses as I got older and that the treatment would be permanent - all of which is proving to be the case some few years on
