I ran a girls football team for two seasons.
It was an absolute nightmare.
Once picked up a girl to take to the match. She got in the car with the other three and was near to tears. I asked her what was up. She said " me mums in the house crying her eyes out, coz she had a fence fitted yesterday and she got up this morning and someone has knicked the lot". Eh, yer what. Her mum had a dozen 3x 6 ft fence panels put in the day before ( front garden ) and someone had knicked them. I had tears in me eyes stifling me laugh

I used to help out with the primary school football team who played cup matches with the three local wee schools.
They have a football cup on prize giving and we had two lads who were very good players I
It seemed unfair to pick one against the other, all the talk of the school was about which one would win it.
In the end we gave the cup to the spirited lassie who played in goals, you should have seen the boys faces.

Really enjoyed watching the lionesses over the last few weeks. The Dutch have just been too savvy tonight for them, little bit more classy on the ball, couple of iffy decisions too tonight, but great effort, hopefully more grass roots girls playing in the uk. My eldest daughters school has a girls team, and her friend plays for the town which is great

The athleticism and skill levels have come on tremendously but I agree it's still not great to watch. The women's game is growing and can only continue to improve. On the night England were pretty poor compared to the Dutch and once it was 2-0 I switched over to watch 10 Puppies & Us

Yes, the Dutch certainly seemed more tactically astute, England played like, erm England do, can't break through a solid backline so long ball and then get caught on the counter.

I watched a lot of last night's game, we were shocking. Why does he play Ellen White when she is absolutely shocking? She gave the ball away time and time and time again, and we had the 6 times more talented Duggan sat on the bench. Style of football was poor as well, we were just playing hoofball. I'm not a regularly watcher of ladies football, but every couple of years when there's a major tournament on I have a look, and I've seen us play far better football before than we did last night. I think this manager seems like an idiot, comes across as a complete merchant banker in interviews as well. When our best player and only outlet for creativity is the right back, you know something's wrong. I thought Nobbs (lol) had a good game, but not many others came out with much credit.

I thought the standard of Englands football was poor. Very poor. France played around us and if they had a half decent forward the score would of been the same as last night. Man city women play better football than England women's team.

Not a tough shout that FD, most teams do :whoo:.
I suspect most top club teams would beat any top national side. They have a wider spread of players and play together all the time. Very rare that we get an absolute top national team that clicks consistently in a major tournament and you would fancy to beat an elite club team.

Some of the women's football I saw last season was of a good standard, watched a couple of England games and thought they were Rammel. In all honestly I thought with the talent at there disposal they have massively underperformed.
