Knowing the Rules!?

Hello,

Im new to the forum - but thought this was a belter last week...

I entertained a few clients at my club last week and saw some astonishing interpretations of the rules...Someone grounding a club in a lateral hazard, believing it was ok as it was not in the stream, looking for balls in OB areas to drop laterally! Most were club golfers who play in competitions...which worried me slightly!

Anyone else seen any great interpretations of the rules!

My old course was a Hawtree design built in 1976 and the first in Wiltshire to have water hazzards.
In the 1980's we hosted the county team championship and the rules some of the players applied regarding drops was quite mind boggling. All of the players were single figure.

On the other side of the coin the 'average' club player could probably save 10 shots a year with a better knowledge of the rules.

Oh yes, many club golfers have absolutely no idea of the most basic of rules.
