just recovering from having a cannula fitted so i can start my pd dialysis, before i had it done i was told 6 weeks off golf then i should be ok,NOW they have told me due to the possible chance of hernia's and damned to my cannula i should avoid lifting, stretching excessive bending and jerky movements to my stomach???,when i mentioned golf the nurse said no chance and i should take up another HOBBY!!!!,has anyone had or knows anybody having pd dialysis and if so how it has effected their game, thanks

;)
Sorry I can't answer your question but I do wish you well for the future.
THANKS for that, been a good year so far first a heart attack,3 months off work and golf now this another couple of months out, soon be christmas, might be asking for knitting needles and wool instead of new ansers.

Hope it goes well mate. At least it'll be winter golf you'll be missing. Do what the nurses tell you. They're a fearsome bunch. I should know, I'm married to one.

Good luck, you'll be on Royal Ashton soon enough.

thanks, will do,got to look on the bright side no wet feet and freezing fingers this year.

First of all, I'm not a clinician. Clinicians are the people you need to get the advice from. However, search www.kidney.org. Have a read, then go and ask the Consultant. Mate of mine played golf every week, and sometimes midweek and golf trips whilst on pd. The concession he made was to wear a support belt. Thankfully he got a transplant.

Good luck.

Sorry mate, but I can't answer your medical question - just wanted to say good luck with everything and you certainly have a good positive attitude, which helps enormously in your journey.

Sounds like a nightmare!... makes my knackered back seem like a bruise

Hope it works out for you

I was thinking the same thing- well not about your back, but the fact I'm undecided about playing in the cold tomorrow, sometimes we don't know how lucky we are so I'm playing, cold or not...

Good luck 6inch, really hope it gets better for you, very impressed by your great attitude here despite certain elements and their silly posts:confused:

I am in Manchester Royal. Got the call yesterday morning and had a transplant at about 2pm. Pretty sore!

Kidney transplant is one of the modern medical miracles. You only need one, so look after it well and it will look after you. Allow yourself some good recovery time, but after that, no reason not to drop that handicap a few shots.

WOW! All the best mate.... hopefully you'll invite the whole forum up to your gaff for a round once you get better!... kidney research is a charity that I'd gladly attend for.

I've got a mate who has been on it for 20 years (one transplant) and he stopped playing years ago, although he is one of the few who still works.

However, I played a 36 holer at Saunton in the height of summer with a fella who was on dialysis, and he looked fine.

Hope everything works out for you both.
