Excepted an offer on our house after only 4 viewings and got what we wanted :)

Found another house last night, viewed it today, went down to their offices immediately afterwards and its ours

Now the fun begins, paperwork, selling stuff we don't want to take with us, more paperwork, buy new stuff we want, even more paperwork, list everyone we need to inform, err paperwork, start collecting boxes.

Our sale is to cash buyers and were going to rent now so it should take no more than 4/5 weeks hopefully.

It had better not interfere with my arranged golf trips :mmm:

Are you moving any nearer to some good links courses?

Well done, we've got a second viewing tomorrow and probably will put in an offer but as cash buyers will be looking well below asking price.

Having cash buyers is better as there's no chain but it doesn't mean you'll reduce your equity by any massive amount and give your house away, the house is still its current value, cash buyers just take away the potential of a chain breaking.

We've let them have our carpets, curtains and white goods in the kitchen and to be honest, they wouldn't have fitted in the new home anyway so a good deal was done, got what we wanted financially and gave stuff away we couldn't use

Unfortunately not and haven't gone where we first opted for either! I really have the links bug as well ;)

Went through the house sale saga two years back, nightmare hope all goes well but until you exchange contracts its never a done deal sadly

Are you renting before the next house is ready or renting instead of buying ?

Made an offer today, £8k below asking price, and got knocked back. Upped the offer by £2k, got knocked back. We're cash buyers - no house to sell, it sold in Oct. Been told they want the full asking price so they can get the house they want, for which they've already paid out for surveys etc but had their original sale fall through... If they come back to us on Monday, fine, but if they don't we'll go with our second choice. It was a coin toss between our first and second choice anyway...

We just bought our first place, cash buyers. Managed to get 15k off asking price but think that's just more an indication of how much over valued property was.

Going to need loads of work, current occupier has been there for 46 years.... everything structural and the like is fine however taste is a tad different.

We're aiming for at least 7-9% off.
In NZ it's lot easier to buy a house , not unheard of to be done and dusted in two weeks. part of the process is one the conditions set out in your offer are met you go unconditional and that's it you're tied in till exchange .
Trying to sell my Mum's house and we had buyer pull one day to some back with 10K offer lower the next day !!

When people say they got carpets and curtains thrown in, does anyone ever really intend to take the carpets with them?

The house I tried to buy before the one I live in, I offered 30k over the asking price, and got bounced.

Never, ever get involved in sealed bid auctions. They are a scam. We had it for 48 hours, and then some one upped their bid after the auction had ended, and we got spat out. It was bought by two builders in the end. Up for 150 ish (un updated 1940s detached), we offered 180, they bought for 190 in the end, messed about with it for two months putting in a kitchen, double glazing and some heating and sold for 300. The new owners knocked most of it down, massively extended, and tbh could have done the lot for less than the 300 they paid, if they had bought it in the original auction. Daft.

Renting now only, don't see the point in us having a mortgage as we've got no kids and nothing to leave to anyone. We bought well 14 years ago, got more than double what we paid in equity so my attitude is, cash is king, and I want to enjoy it and not have it locked up until I'm too unfit to enjoy it.

are you staying in the City

Yes, Mount Nod.

When people say they got carpets and curtains thrown in, does anyone ever really intend to take the carpets with them?

No, although we do have some really nice railed heavy curtains which could have moved with us but hey, fresh start.

Good luck Fish..

... Are you now officially 'Fish out of water'

Cheers, yes currently I'm swimming upstream against the tide looking to lay my eggs again ;)

Sign of the times this regarding renting, we are reaching the next generation when nobody will buy houses to live / own only buy to let

Sadly this also drives the rental amounts up too ridiculous figures so youngsters cannot afford to buy or rent

Good luck Fish, use the money wisely as it can soon slip away through your fingers, might be worth investing it perhaps ?

Definitely seeing more For Rent signs now around than For Sale.

Does it, I thought all the rentals we saw were very good value and thought due to the amount now seen on the market, the competition is that good and as such rentals can be negotiated down, we did.

Hmm, investment :mmm: Orka, Cleveland, Titleist, Mizuno, the list is endless, not TM though :ears:

Sold my mums house without it even getting onto the market. Estate agent valued it and guy came in and offered much more than the asking price. No chain and easy. Made a difficult time a lot easier. All we need to do now is wait for Redrow to release the plot we want on the development we are looking at and we can get our dream house. Hoping we can entice first time buyers to our modest mid-terrace abode and make the next part easy peasy

Bought my place i'm in now back in October as a cash buyer. Before that the place I owned with my ex I sold and moved into rented as it wasn't the same living in the house my kids were brought into when she sodded off. So rented a place for a while till I figured out where I wanted to live.

When I found my place I viewed on 28th August which is my birthday, put the offer in same day and completed on 23rd September my sons birthday and moved in 13th October my daughters birthday! Gotta say think it was meant to be indeed and i've never found aplace i'm just so comfortable in. For all the horror stories of people moving I've certainly been lucky and it helps yourr brother in law being a move director for Pickfords saved a fortune when mving everything:D

I'm confused here,

hello I've got loads of cash in my bank account, I don't need to get a mortgage so I would like to offer you loads less for your house.

How about I see if my German Shepherd makes it to the gate before you do

I'd be happy if someone told me we're taking the carpets with us as it would save me ripping them out and skipping them. The one thing I always do is rip out carpets and put down new ones! Hate to think what's been on some house carpets.
