this season ive started taking a note of putts. and I assume it has worked out GIR aswell.
so 1.7 average putts (is that ok) and I think this is shocking 15.3% GIR is that bad?

Your putting is better than mine but your GIR a lot worse. I'm at 31% but was 50% in the medal yesterday...39 putts though!

Similar stats to me, and as my pro pointed out, your putting numbers should be low if your GIR is low because generally you're going to chip it closer from five yards left of the green than you are with a seven iron from 165 yards.

How many putts per GIR?

I average 1.79 putts per hole, but to GIR it is 2.04 so a bit deceiving. It makes 32 putts average to showing 37 if GIR every hole.

Good stats though.

Ooh - interesting. Off to play with my spreadsheet now

According to my stats, I'm hitting fairways and greens like a 15 handicap. Not making enough birdies to quite shoot +15 yet but I shot a +19 round of 90 (so close to breaking that barrier) tonight, but I can count at least 4 shots I lost through either dumb or careless play which gets me down to that level of scoring.

Fun bonus stat, I've not hit a par 3 green in my last 3 rounds (0/15)

You don't have to make birdies to shoot +15, you have to stop making doubles and trebles

Tell me about it. I had 90 broken tonight after 15. Started off on our 6th as the first was busy, played round and picked up from the 1st after the 18th. From 6th to 2nd I was +13 (72 strokes). Then tripled 3 and 4, parred 5, counted up and could have shot myself. I'd taken 18 over the last three. D'oh. Lesson definitely learned.

Only mentioned birdies because my birdie conversion percentage is very low, but you're right. I've plenty enough big numbers to cut out that will lower my score before I even need to think about birdies.

You seem to be similar to me, you miss a lot of greens but probably chip quite well so your putting stats are 'flattering'

We need to get the gir stat up to a better level, around the 30% area.
