Juniors with electric trolleys! Should this be banned

Wow Brendy - Long irons and carry bags - what a hunk!! :D

If I use my trolley and bag, I'll just have to get over the fact that I am somehow deficient as a male and marvel at those who lug their kit over a shoulder clunking and clicking their way round the place.

Whatever happened to live and let live.

No Rob, its better than that I go silent too, I have iron covers :D
Let me say though that a golfer that uses a trolley or a bag is still a golfer. A trolley is not the labour saving device that many believe it to be though. The couple of calories that it saves on the course is used up lifting and carrying to charge etc off the course.

What gives anyone the right to try to tell another person how they should make their way around a golf course?
Why does it matter to you?

If I want to pack a tour bag full of stuff that would last a week on a camping holiday what the heck has it got to do with anyone else?

If my parents can afford to buy me nice things then so what?

Find something important to get wound up about.

Still not sold the car then Gary?

:D :D :D

Don't go there, we go over enough old ground with other topics, you should sticky them along with GPS and hybrids!!! :D :D

I don't play golf to keep fit/ lose weight or burn calories, if i want to do those I'll put on some sports clobber and do something that makes me get a dab on.

A trolley and big bag is great for me as it just covers every eventuality in this country of ours where weather is a fascination.
If it's lovely it means I'm not lugging a bag pressed against my back which traps the sweat and gives you a map of africa all down your t-shirt.
If it then rains, I can make a choice from full waterproofs or a shower top, stick the big condom thing over the bag to keep everything dry and stick the umbrella up on the handle if I so wish.
When it stops I don't have to then stick wet gear back into a bag i have to then lug back on my shoulder with the wet bag straps making little piss patches on my t-shirt.

It's just a choices thing. I carry all winter with minimal kit to save the course and having to walk the long way round everything. I usually pencil bag for our club 4somes matches (unless dodgy forecast) as it means I can cut ahead whilst my partner is going back to the tee etc.

As I said, live and let live. :D

Kno..., err, I mean no ;)

As a junior I had a leather bag that wasn't light, with a leather strap that wasn't padded, and no stand so you had to bend over to pick it up.
I was smaller and weaker than I am now and that's saying something.

I'm not saying It's in any way related, but I have a back problem now that causes the muscles to go into spasm every so often, and in particular circumstances.
I tried a pull trolley and that was worse, twisting half behind you to pull the handle.

There's no way I could ever have afforded a push or electric trolley, but if I could have I would, and stuff what anyone else thought.

Maybe anyone who drives less than 10 miles to work should be ridiculed and made to get a bike :D

Anyone wanna buy a car? :D

I've noticed.
It's normally when you are in the vicinity of the bar and it's your shout.
You can't get your hands in your pocket when it happens can you?
   ;)

Funnily enough, I cycle to work a couple of times a week. I dont quite get up to 150mph though :)
I suppose my nonbelief in trolleys (I did have one for a short while but didnt like it and all of the issues) comes down to getting round the course faster and not holding anyone up. I honestly believe if everyone carried, a round of golf would be quicker.

I often think I ought to get a leccy trolley. I'd be able to get more stuff in the bag, attach a brolly and keep drier easier, take extra food & drink to keep at my peak, and should make my golfing life generally easier. But....
I tried one out at Beau Desert last year and couldn't get on with it. Maybe it's just me, but I never felt fully in control of it and just got annoyed with trying to get it through the trees and over humps etc (I played very badly which probably didn't help).
So for now I'll stick to carrying but I can fully understand why those that use trollies do so, and (they'll be glad of this) they have my blessing to carry on.

A scholar and a gentleman. :D

One tries!! :)

I do agree with your post regarding speed of play though Brendy.

I often feel that people walk at the speed of their trolley rather than setting the trolley to go at the correct pace.
Too much dawdling around for my liking.

Quicker if every one walked?

Nonsense.

We had a dear old lady at my last course, and when the trolley ban was in place she used to drag her bag along the ground, as she couldn't carry it. Quick? Not a chance.

Since I can get 18 holes in, with an electric trolley, as a two ball, in less than 2 hours, I can't see what makes it slow? you might as well say having a putter makes it slow, or red trousers. Or being a fat b...

To speed things up, any one over 11 stone shouldn't be allowed to play, as they are inherantly fat, unfit and lazy?

Pish and waffle.

If you want to carry, do it, but don't blame slow play on electric trolleys.

Less wear and tear from bag carriers,oh,and you don't need to stick up those unsightly posts, ropes etc that you sometimes see to stop the ignorant trolley users from going over already worn out turf again.

Carrying makes 100% sense.

I take exception to that.
I weigh in at 13 stone and am far from fat. As for unfit and lazy............... :(

Can't argue with that.

i do wish that there were more trolly bans at my place as the course would be so much better throughout the year. It's pretty good as it is but would make a world of difference.

The only reason we don't have more bans is due to the secretary and green keeper trying to stop people moaning.
Most of the moaners are fully able and fairly fit so i can't see why they shouldn't be expected to carry when the course needs it.

Who decides who is fit to play? They have all paid their membership fees?

If I was told there was a trolley ban for the next two months, I'd leave, and join somewhere else. So would half the membership.

My usual 4 ball has 4 under 50s, all with back issues, and one had a heart attack before Christmas. We all look fit enough, but sadly no one is.

If the club meet my physio bill, then I'll carry. They might have to pay my wages for a bit too.

All to save a bit of grass from wearing? Often no where near the fairway or green?

Some of you need to find something a bit more worthwhile to moan about.
