Jordan Spieth - Hawaii

bored senseless you cant appreciate class golf then, JS - great role model, currently worlds best player, joy to watch - imo dullest golfers are kevin na, r ramsey and k bradley now these guys are dull and take a lifetime over each shot!

But he's only doing what we all to aspire to isn't he ? Hit the fairway, hit the green and two putt for par. Or miss the green get up and down, hole the eagle putt......

I want to (unfairly) dislike him, but I find myself appreciating his shots... he's so steady, doesn't hit it far but finds the fairway, finds greens and is an excellent putter - it is actually quite monotonous but efficient. The difficultly is the cameras switch to him when its his shot; however, his PSR and relentless scuffing of turf behind the ball and endless chatter to caddy means that it all takes an age - granted, the shot turns out to be ace. Also, when he talks to his ball, "go, go ball, go on...", you think he might be in trouble when really he ends up 3ft from the pin. I find that annoying. But, he's stready... fairway, green, birdie/eagle putt. 'Golf' by numbers, it's brilliant but dull.

He's just very, very good. What's needed is for him to be truly tested and put under pressure. I personally hope Rory comes out firing and sends him packing this year, the only one I think that can has the game and mind for him (for a lot I think they are already beat by him)

I watched a lot of it and he was very very good, apart from a little blip he hardly put a foot wrong he was just so consistent[which some are mistaking for boring].
I said last year he was better than Rory and I believe he is long term.
Obviously Rory and others will be pushing him for majors but I believe Speith has got an ambition to win as many tournaments as possible when some will target majors more.

The funny thing is, if you didn't know any of the players and were on the range watching Rory, Day, DJ, Bubba and Spieth, he is the last one you'd choose to follow round the course.

Yes he is capable of playing great shots like the others, but he doesn't do it with as much style.
He is just so darn good at getting his ball round the course without any dramas.

As for people thinking he couldn't carry on putting as well as he did last year, he obviously didn't read the memo.

I agree, I have a soft spot for him (see my Avatar!) and have been quite sensible about not betting on him out of personal attachment. However I think he's finally got a few things in order and will certainly be looking at him in future games on merit. His antics at the last Ryder Cup rubbed people the wrong way but at least he cared! He was more up for it than anyone, and his record reflected that.

Great avatar!
He did a similar pic with a few of the European Tour guys, so obviously got a good sense of humo(u)r :D

It could well end up that Spieth ends up being Faldo to McIlroy's Seve. Faldo won more majors but certainly isnt the most loved of the two.

Then again David Duval ripped it up for a while on the golf world and ended up plummeting.

So who knows?!

I think you've just summed up good golf very well....

To add, great field or weak field, 30 under par is going to win regardless 99/100.

3 X -8, then a steady -6 when he took a 5 shot lead into the final round.

Machine.

I think Spieth has a more long-term technique than Duval had though, but as you say, who knows?
Lots of different factors in play, who knows what will go on between the ears?

You could be right about Speith & Rory.
If both players turned up with their A game Rory would win IMO.
But Speith just looks so steady & consistent.

Let's see how Speith does after he switches to another manufacturer...surely it's only a matter of time.

Why would he?

The dullest thing in golf is Bubba Watson, tries too hard to be funny.
And how many times do the commentators need to point out that he shapes the ball? Zzzzzz

The difference between Rory and Jordan is their 'B' games. Jordan's is better so he will win more as nobody takes their 'A' game to the course every day. Speith has proved that distance is not everything, however, for you lot that think he is a short hitter he is not that far behind the big hitters.
