So at the grand age of 27, I've joined my first golf club, fairly local to me; Alton GC is a 9 hole with 2 tee positions on each hole, beats paying £15-20 a time to pay and play!

Popped in there on Saturday morning to have 9 holes and was offered to go out to make up a 4 ball, really good set of guys and had a great time (shame about the putting ).

Now I need to get on and get my handicap sorted :funk:

Excellent - hope you enjoy yourself at your new club

Good idea having 2 tee positions. My old club was a 9 hole and should (and could) have installed this.

I hope you get your money's worth and meet (and beat) many new friends.

Enjoy.

Good luck with that, I put in an honorary type handicap card the other day just shy of 120. I'm sure you'll cope better than I did.

O/T I played a 9 hole course that had 2 pin positions on each hole (and on 1 occasion 2 greens) the other day which was a novel experience and I suppose ideal for power play. I wonder if more 9 hole courses would consider that an option.

Good stuff. Joined my first club 3 weeks ago and handed in my 3rd and final handicap card on Saturday and will hopefully find out if my handicap is below 28. Its easier to justify to the wife now that i need to play more golf in order to make the £800 i forked out worth it!! Good luck and try not to top your first drive 30 yards into the rough in front of your new peers!!

Never played Alton, though my daughter did go to college there. Make the effort to get to know as many members as you can, and you will love being a club golfer.

Thanks for the relplies guys! Looking forward to it as there seems to be a great sense of comunity up there that some clubs seem to lack, usually over shaddowed by snobery! Hopefully be able to get up there this weekend if the weather comes good.
