Went to La Manga for brother in law's stag do. Popped into the Piano bar and it was rammed with golfers on a charity weekend. Ended up chatting to some bloke with a big chin at the bar for about 15mins whilst I waited to get served. Wasn't until I walked away that my bro in law asked me what I'd been chatting to Jimmy Hill about. Never realised it was him.

He ended up sitting with the 12 us talking about the Liverpool game (they'd won the champs league the week before) along with Ruddock. Really nice bloke, a lot funnier than I'd expected and took interest even when we started talking about our local non-league team.

Football has lost one of the good ones.

I had a few nights out in a crowd with Jimmy in London over the past 6 years, always at this time of year, and I can tell you he was a very nice man indeed.

I was upset to read of his passing. He was a gentleman.

What a loss to the game of Football - his Legacy will live on and on.

I used to love watching him on Match Of The Day - he seemed to bring out the best of all the Pundits around him.

Ah those were the days, watching every single minute of the programe 'til the end. Not any more I'm afraid.

R.I.P. Jimmy Hill.

I saw Alan Gilzean play for Spurs against Carlisle in the FA Cup. Stan Bowles played for Carlisle and scored in a 1-1 draw. Alan Gilzean was and still is the oldest looking player I have ever seen. Even older looking than Ralph Coates. The glancing headers off Gilzean's bald patch were a thing of beauty.:mmm:

Gilzean is a hero to older Spurs fans - but he's simply a God to fans of my team - and he had hair (though not lots of it) when he was battering in goals for us all over Scotland and Europe.

Back on subject - Nobody seems to have posted yet that he totally transformed Coventry City as well back in the 60s - Jimm was a massive influence on football in England
