To play slower?

I really hope the officials grow some balls and start putting him on the clock. I'm not a fan of him to begin with, watching him this year will be torture.

I heard an interview with Spieth last year and he said he was goi g to be mindful of his pace of play this season which is good to hear.

He said more deliberate with the shots - what on earth does that mean? Collect all the information! You caddy has the yardage, You can clearly feel the wind - you know where to pitch the ball on the green! Just Do it! Just because you miss don't blame it on the pace! He said why do we need to speed up - because you're the role models! every golfer wants a swing like yours and will copy! especially young players who are new to the game!

Hope he gets clocked! better do!

The officials are so weak though. Nothing ever gets done. Shot deduction needed and they need to be firm on it. Doesn't matter if its speith, woods, day or some amateur at the open!

The guy hasn't even hit a shot yet and the penalties are reigning down. I'm sure Day is clever enough to know when he is pushing the time limit - there is a lot of focus right now on pace of play and two of the best in the world ( Speith and Day ) analysis each shot to death which is not helping the pace of play and you would hope they will have been given a little nudge

Nobody has said give him penalties unless he gets slower than he is[and that goes for all players]and he breaches the rules[and that also goes for all players.

We all know watching Day and Speith putt can be painful but fining them will make no difference, the only thing that will speed these types of players up is shot deductions.
As has been said the rules officials will have to man up and do it to a big name not some 14 year old boy.

very true, giving players a monetary fine is a waste of time... shot penalties are the only thing that will work IMO

Why should the slower players go at the speed of the fastest?

Some of the other players are pushed for time, they need to get back for the school run. They change their shoes in the carpark and don't even stop for a drink after they finish!

Jason Day is already a disgrace him and professional golfers like him are a disaster for the game, as said hopefully the tour will take action against him.

Jason Day is far from a disaster for the game to be fair....yes he's slow but I love watching him stripe his irons

You just have to wait a long time between each shot

For me, he is just irritating. He visualises every shot and closes his eyes for ages!! Just bloody get on with it...

The difference is speith has said he plans on speeding up and is aware he is slow.

He was a bit silly saying this out loud. by all means, think it, try it, but as one of the slowest players on the tour he was mighty silly broadcasting the idea.

All he has done is bring the spotlight firmly on him over his pace of play.

Takesall Day is everything that is bad in the game he is a role model for kids who will also take ages and ages over every shot, for me it's players like him who are causing the turn away from golf and it would be better of without him.

Interestingly in our recent survey at our club the younger players do not see pace of play at ours an issue where as us oldies do
