James ! Get a grip man!

Re: FFS James ! Get a grip man!

James,james,james
Cheer up buddy, most people would kill to shoot under par.
At the moment im probably the most consistent i have ever been.
But i would love to shoot par,let alone under.
You have a talent, and your advice is definately welcome.
Please dont become another miserable sod on the forum

Re: FFS James ! Get a grip man!

What's causing the injury?

1 Golf- Find a new way to hit the ball or a new pastime.
2 Work- Get it sorted, cos it pays for the golf
3 Something else- Stop doing it and play golf!!!!!

What I am really saying is get out and enjoy yourself, whether on the golf course or at the dominoes table with the old biddies. Just enjoy.

Whoa. Get a grip indeed.

You're just too competitive against yourself. (Got to be).

I understand this, I just need to look in the mirror. :(

You could quit (I did) but one day, you'll wake up, think "ooh, I feel like playing golf today" and then regret stopping.

1 under is terrific. That's 6 better than I have ever done since re-starting the game. You've obviously got the game and talent/work ethic to play really good stuff. I'd like to be able to say the same..... :(

Chin up mate. A lot of us feel better than our h'caps and indeed, when I go to certain other courses, playing to 12 is no challenge at all.

I guess the trick is to find good reasons to play that aren't totally number orientated. I'm not trying to get back to 8 or 9, NOT this time. It did my head in last time and I know better now. I enjoy playing, I enjoy the social, the forum, the matches, the comps, even practising. I take the challenge one hole at a time, look for *something* every time I play to feel good about.

If at the end of the day, if it's 84 shots, that's what it is. As long as I did something half decent some of the time, I'm happy. :)

Re: FFS James ! Get a grip man!

Wow 1 under injured that must be at least 2 over healthy ! I met a guy from Hong Kong who was fantastic fun really upbeat even though he explained that he lost his plastics business from which he once had $38million in the bank.

I said how come you're so positive, such a good Craig and he replied "20 year old girlfriend".:D

Not sure I'd recommend it but it does remind you to keep a young outlook or you could become an old fart.

I'm the most inconsistent golfer that I know. Played mediocre/poorly at Camberley, practically handed a matchplay win to my opponent yesterday, haven't made the buffer or got cut EVER since getting my h/cap over 2yrs ago and yet I go out today and shoot 1 under par. Nothing special just reasonably solid. Probably 97% of golfers will NEVER do that in their lifetime so why am I sitting here looking at my clubs thinking that if I just snap them it'll save a lot of hassle (although I know I'd then just grab another set from the shed) :p

My 'Bubba driving' is currently ..... and is more like Bubba's mum! I'm losing 30yds off each drive by swinging with my arms/shoulders as my back doesn't seem to want to co-operate, more of a weak heel slice than a power fade:( I can hit a long draw/straight(ish) shot but it's too much strain on my back (have to use the hips else the arms take over and you hook it). I don't ever clean my clubs, rarely practice, don't play that much, I haven't even gotten my latest set of clubs regripped even though the grips are too small for me!

I'm waiting for the day that I top one off the 1st tee at a forum meet... I'm sure it'll happen one day.. that's something to look forward too

I feel like I need to get out and practice but if it isn't the back/knee/shoulder/wrist it's frikkin' raining, I need to video my swing but WHY? I'm 43yrs old, I ain't going to be a professional golfer, 36pts at a forum meet would be nice but what difference does it make how I play or what my h/cap is? Who gives a stuff if I play off 3, 2, 1, 6, 7 or 12? No one.

I do enjoy meeting people and having a laugh, forum meets have definitely kept me playing golf, I'd have quit ages ago if I hadn't of joined the forum and met people like Murph, Smiffy, Pieman, Region3, Golfmmad, Leftie, Bratty... actually the list is endless, I haven't met anyone from the forum who isn't a top bloke,.... even Snelly!

So What is going on? Is it midlife crisis? Should I look at more porn and less "How's my swing?" or "What ball should I use?".... I do like helping people (for those that care to listen) I don't mind the banter or even the criticism.... sometimes it seems I only play golf (if you can call it playing most of the time) so that I can continue partake in the forum...... don't want to lose my friends/miss the banter etc etc

Is there anyone here that doesn't actually play golf any more?

And your giving me tips:rolleyes::rolleyes::whistle::thup:

Get your head up you muppet:whoo:...If you want to see inconsistency and a swing thats a work in progress just look at mine... That'll cheer you up...:ears:

Leave the poor bloke alone - he is clearly bipolar and in one of his depressive phases. Either give him some drugs, or wait and he will be in manic mode and then god help him and us :)

The day I shoot one under is the day I strip stark naked and dive head first into the pond by the 18th. Man up you wuss. I have copyright on melancholy and woe is me.

If you are still struggling with aches and injuries I guess the answer is to get these fixed and give golf a break and then come back fully fit - or as close as you'll ever get - and play with freedom and inhibition. Either way cheer up you moody old soak and enjoy what you've just done

"Golf isn't a game of perfect."

Rather than look at the score, come to work with me. A few hours in Intensive Care, Special Care Baby Unit and theatres and you'll realise you are lucky at level you just didn't even think about previously.

Failing that, do you want a slap?

I'm feeling even more depressed now the forum layout has ruined the browsing experience. Can't read my PM's, not much point in posting pics or vids as they're too hard to see.... yada yada.

Might free me up to do some decorating.......

Re: FFS James ! Get a grip man!

........ I wonder how he can possibly enjoy it or keep going. Maybe me and him need to sit down and talk about it.

Come on James. I'm not that bad, am I?

But you are right. We definitely need a chat. Give me a call/PM me and we'll meet up for a game and a heart to heart.

And, no, I don't want to enquire too deeply into your sex life (or lack thereof....)
