James Braid courses around edinburgh and north of edinburgh

Del,

There's a scheme whereby scheme members clubs get preferential rates, usually the visitors rate, at other Braid designed courses. Your home club needs to be a Braid design and a member of the scheme and then you can look at the long list of Braid designed courses and take your pick. Great way to get an away game at a reasonable rate.

Its a great way to play golf for a decent price. As i've said before if anyone fancies a game at Scotscraig with me (thats the down fall ) your more than welcome and its only £15.

Of the ones I've played, the following get big ticks:

Dalmahoy (Championship), West Linton, Glenbervie, Royal Musselburgh (specially the last 3 holes!),

Prestonfield and Ratho Park are a bit ho-hum.

Of the ones I haven't played, but have heard good things, Burntisland, Scottscraig, Dunblane New

Of the ones I haven't played but heard are rather ho-hum - Baberton, Broomieknowe, Kingsknowe, Lothianburn

There are at least a couple that are particularly quirky or sloped (on the side of a hill) - Lothianburn, Merchants and Turnhouse - and may be worth avoiding (or playing just to try!).

Could be quite a trip! Enjoy!

I was a member at WL as a junior when my dad owned the Linton Hotel back in the early 70's. It was a 9 holer then.Have played the 18 holer back in th mid 90's.Wished I lived closer.
If you're staying in West Linton, you have to play West Linton. I'm biased, it's where I play, but it's a hidden gem.

I'd also second votes for Musselburgh and Scotscraig.
