I have one Ping club in the bag , my i15 driver. Superb club and my driving has improved no end since having this club fitted for me.

However , when looking for a new 3 wood I tried the i15 aswell as the g15 but they were pants tbh. I eventually settled on a TM r9 ti that gave amazing results compared to all the others I tried.

Theres also no way I could use the i15 irons , they just dont suit my eye at all at address.

I'm like several people on here though , I find the club/clubs that suit me without being a brand whore or blinkered into thinking the set has to be one make 'cos it looks nice'. Find the best club and buy it , quite simple.

What didn't you like about the i15 JD? I have got rid of my G10 3 wood as I didn't like it. Love the 5 wood though. I'm considering getting the i15 3 to match up with my driver but it's difficult finding somebody with one in stock with the shaft I want to give it a whang.

^^
Smiffy , I didnt like the look of the really small head to start with. Then it performed no better than my original f60 which had a dud shaft in it !

Even when I was getting fitted for my driver James (tour truck chap) said the i15 wouldnt be the one for me and so it proved.

The figures didnt lie and the g15 was no better than the i15 or the cobra but the TM was significantly better. Over 25 yards further carry and very tight dispersal with a lovely ball flight on top. Not being a person fooled by a makers name on a product I went for the best one and also the one that sat well for my eye.

I like Ping drivers, got a GI5, but also not so keen on their other woods. Got a Mizuno MX700 3 wood which has a bigger head, and i find easier to hit off the tee.

I also have two ping G5 hybrids which i got off ebay, as i much prefer them to the later ping hybrids. Had a G10 which felt more like a wood, and the G15 is just too ugly.

Go with what you feel comfortable with, and hit well, rather than just buy into the name, or the latest model.

Hi Alex.
I got them with AWT stiff shafts standard length....
I hope to have em this side of christmas but i dont mind really cos the weather is so cold here at the mment everything is closed...
We'll be lucky to get out within the next 3 weeks.

I took the I15 demo set out onto the practice ground today. Its the first time I've hit them off grass since I went to the Ping demo in August. Now admittedly the grass was wet and like playing out of semi rough but I did struggle with them more than I hoped.

I'm not sure how much of that is down to hitting off grass for the first time in about a month and range mats being too forgiving but a lot of shots were quite fat and heavy initally. Once I did get it going the flight and dispersion in particular was very good. However distance wise they were disappointing (130 with a 7) but again not sure how much that was due to the cold air, poorish lie and the wind blowing into my face.

I had set my heart on the Pings as they have been very good to hit until today. It might have been me swinging badly but the jury are definitely out now as to whether they are worth getting (in laws and my mum are offering to buy them for Xmas). I think I need to get on the course with them really and see but definitely a bit of a reality check

Ping are usually pretty quick in building clubs. When I ordered my short-lived i15's in early January it took less than 3 days to get them.

Thats good to hear Murg. Why did you change?
It'll be a bonus if i get them quick but im not holding my breath. Anyway ill really struggle to get to hit them if they do come earlier than i hope over the weather here

Although I hit.them.well.during.the fitting, when I got.them on the course I'd have had more consistency with a lump of 4x2. Couldn't hit a thing with them.
Gave them half a dozen rounds and the same.number of range sessions but it just wasn't working. Sold them on for what I paid for them and moved to Mizzy. Problem solved. Also the fitting did seem strange. Ping fit me 1/2 inch long and 2degs upright. Mizzy fit was 1/2 inch long but 1 deg flat. Now a standard Ping and Mizzy 6 iron are almost identical so the fits were 3 degrees out on lie.....

Ya certainly something strange with the figures there Murg....
I was 3/4 deg flat on mine which seemed right as my cobra's seemed to be well up off the toe at address and the standard pings and cobra's have a 1.5 deg difference between 6 irons also i think....

I think that this is maybe why i got on so well with the Pings...The flatter lie gave me more consistency as my divots with the Cobra's were very heel deep...

I would never consider a set of irons where the 7i went 130, what ever the conditions. The search is over, stick with what you have. It's you, not the arrows.
