It's unfortunate that complaining is sometimes the only way.

I'd have said rectified straight away would be a next day delivery. Not another 3 day wait; especially when they told me another 2 days!

I can see where you are coming from, and yes, there is a feeling of "you under delivered so compensate me" in today's online retail world. As above, next day delivery to rectify the situation ASAP is the resolve, not another 3 day wait.

However, the world wants A+ customer service for the cheapest possible price. Which is never going to happen. The answer is to pay top whack (or certainly not rock-bottom prices) to established retailers who have a good reputation...

1st bold: I don't know if it is though. Yes in the case of a 'forgotten' order like yours but not in the case of the OPs scenario (where I'll wager the needed item was robbed from another waiting customer)

2nd bold: Yeah I agree, the internet has spawned 'retailers' who really aren't. They're just companies relying on a logistical order fulfillment service to make money and are happy to make claims/promises based on best case scenario (a bit like how far we drive the ball, we never seem to include the one we topped 50 yards but that doesn't mean it didn't happen) So a 48hr delivery it is if you order... blah blah (& who can blame them)

Trying to remember where retail started to go silly and I think it was probably getting your pizza free if not delivered in 30 minutes and golf outlets it seems are as happy as the rest to peddle their best case numbers and deal with the fallout as it occurs

just re-reading the opening post I’m intrigued as to what happened behind the scenes to make a 8.5 club-head available within 15 minutes that previously wasn’t there

Did they find one in a box they didn’t know they had
Did they contact local retailers to get one sent back to them to match to the shaft & fulfill the order
Did they manufacture an extra one that day to fulfill this particular order ;)

Or more likely did they snaffle a unit away from someone else’s order

It must be hard as a successful online operator to provide a perfect service all of the time. I guess as long as you are doing as much as you can and are open and honest when mistakes are made then as a customer this is all you can ask for. However it's this last bit that many seem to fall down on. Some do it well (GK in particular) but others seem to stick their head in the sand at the first sign of trouble. I guess if you have bad experiences you won't go back and in the end that'll be the difference between one that does well and flourishes and a company that struggles

Well they told the shop It was the shaft that they didn't have. So I actually think they don't have a real reason.

However whether or not it was taken from someone else's order, frankly I don't care. I was told a week.

The driver was delivered today
