It's that cynic again

Rules are fine but they need to be clear and concise.

If you should not drive for exercise then say so. If you can and distance is an issue then say how far is acceptable. If walking with a drink is against the rules then make it clear that when exercising food and drink is not to be purchased on route.

In my opinion it's not acceptable to allow the police to have personal discretion to decide whether someone's behaviour is illegal or not. This leads to inconsistencies and opens the Police to criticism.

I suspect the reason these things have not been clarified is a popularity issue.

We walk my daughter to pre school, Gregg's is on way back open for take away

So if we get say a sausage roll and a coffee are we now having a picnic?

Quite simple - police being pushed to pull people up and convict interpret ‘local’ one way and the girls interpreted another. And as there is no definition in the relevant law of local the police have no way of lawfully enforcing it. Rock and hard place. Listened to one of the girls being interviewed short while ago on LBC and she was very reasonable and sensible - and there was nothing she said that I could disagree with. But pity the poor police trying to meet the demands of their ‘boss who cannot be named’

The picnic element of the accusation really didn't stand up in my head. First off, to have a picnic you have to have food. You also have to be sat down. Moving and eating is not a picnic.

Have your Greggs and don't worry ? (if Northumbria police try that approach they will have riots ?)

If Northumbria police try and nab me ill ask if that was essienal travel to London lol

But yes. Also what if you bring a themos of tea??!

How much do they spend on fake tan?? It’s January and they should look like Casper the ghost by now
That's entirely irrelevant but still made me spray my tea ?. I'm as pasty as you can get right now, not a good look, but anyone that orange at the moment is kidding themselves if they think people believe that look is better.

Dont know if folk noticed but the photos (in which they appear) are credited to one of the pair. So they are either old photos, or are staged by themselves. I'd guess the "outside photo" is staged and the "orange photo" is old (if its not old, then they shouldn't be that close to each or nor indeed be inside together ;)).

If you aren't sat down then you are fine. Sit on a bench, rug or fold out chair and you start being in picnic territory but keep moving and you should be okay.

This is not legal advice incidentally, just my views of a British picnic :)

The moment they allowed one of their own to drive a distance to test his eyesight with no penalty or admonishment they created this "Im going to interpret the rules the way I want to " attitude.
Far too many are looking for excuses for themselves and others.
If you don't want the virus follow the rules, simples.

The simple rule is that its not a picnic unless there's wasps ....

It's funny, as I also go fishing, and as many will know, fishing locally has just been permitted. On various angling forums there have been some amusing comments about being careful not to take a flask or a sandwich if you go fishing now, as the police will fine you for picnicking :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I'm sure it was pure chance that the two ladies fined by Derbyshire police just happened to be young, attractive and photogenic.
Personally, I'm less cynical of the Police, who were - after all - already at the venue. But any cynism I have rests with 'the usual suspects' (of the press and the participants), who decided this was a 'story'!

Sorry Tash, you drove your wife for a covid test when you were positive, what if some drunk or drug driver had hit your car when you were out?

Risk is everywhere and hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Right let’s start at the beginning.I was showing ” no symptoms” when I took my son on day one, on the second day I took my wife for a test when she had symptoms. I still did not have symptoms. that morning my sons results came back he was positive. On the third day I developed symptoms. That was when I had a test as requested by the Test people.
At no point did I come into contact with any other person apart from the people who are at the testing centre.

My isolation finished 2 days after my wife’s.

I have asked you once before, how would you of arrived at the “drive in” test centre.

At no point during my trips to the test centre did I ring a pal for a walk, call in anywhere for a coffee, or come into contact with anyone else.

Could have arranged a home test as per guidelines.

Interesting that you mention angling as this also takes place at this same venue.

The Government now permit fishing but will Derbyshire Police?

And as I said at the time I would of done the same and we BOTH would of been breaking the law.

According to what you posted originally you knew your son was positive before you went out again in the car, ie, you took a risk, you then can’t come on and say people are wrong for taking risks which are within the rules.

I went two places in my car locally yesterday, had to go see my physio as my back was playing up, saves a trip to overwhelm the Nhs if it proper goes one day

Went by car

On way back did a click and collect at Dunelm for a mattress topper to help my back as we having to sleep in old master room until twins are old enough for wife to let us back in the loft room

You tell them via your phone your there and they bring your item to your car leave it outside the door and they go

Only contact with someone was with the physio who had gloves , apron and we both wore masks

I'm sure someone will tell me how I could have done it better

A Panda mattress topper

Only because you invited comment. I'm not being judgemental, just an opinion.?
Only you know how serious your back problem was.
Personally, I will not be in a room with any other person at this time unless it is ultra seriously necessary. Desirable come nowhere near it.

To be fair I trust his measures , full clean down of the room between patients

He wore rubber gloves (ooo err Mrs) those plastic aprons NHS staff where and a proper fit mask

Receiptionist had a full perspex screen aswell

One person in receiption at a time, door locked have to knock to enter and hand gel available

That and picking up the twins was painful, can't have that!

And, likewise opinion not legal advice, but doesn't a 'picnic' involve food, not simply a cup of coffee?
