I have just completed a strange round, which I cant quite get my head around.
I started poorly and started sulking a bit when I landed up 12 over par for the first 6 holes (1 bogey, 4 doubles and a triple). I then played the next 12 holes in level par (8 pars, 2 bogeys and 2 birdies).
It was a stableford competition tonight so I went out with 13 points and came back in 24 for a 37 total. My current handicap is 13.
I just cant understand the first 6 holes, my driving was ok but i just couldnt do anything else.

Hopefully I pick up where i left off in my next round.

I know what you mean. Played the front 9 in 15 a few weeks ago and bogies the next three (ok I got shots for net pars but they are relatively easy) and played the last 6 holes in level par. It suddenly clicked from nowhere. Happy days (I even won the division) but sadly it went again as quickly as it came

It certainly is.
Played out of my skin friday afternoon - played like a ****************** today.
Drove well for the front 9 but couldn't really score - ended 15. Back 9 was just pitiful (10)
Still - friday's another day.........

Possibly put too much pressure on yourself at the start and was too tense/tight. Once the scoring pressure had gone due to the bad start you 'gave up' and just played golf without worrying about the score. Happens all the time , its a case of replicating the feeling of the 2nd half when starting out in future.....simple really ;)

Level5s, do you ever warm up before a game.
If you can hit some on a range or a net and do some chipping and putting before you play, that might help :)

Biggest turnaround I ever had was at Quinta do Lago on a golfing holiday with my mates one year.
I had one point (yes one!!) after 5 holes. I felt like topping myself I was playing that badly and was also 5 down to my mate who I was playing a side game against. I mentally "gave up" at that point.
Remaining 13 holes I took 31 points off and ended up beating my mate 2&1 and finished the round in 2nd place on the days leaderboard.
As you say...it's a funny old game
