For golf balls to have micro chips in with similar technology to that of vehicle tracker devices?
I ask as im certain that those who play links courses would benefit from such commodity.
Or would the durability of a golf ball mean it would be economically unviable?
Would a microchip alter the balls performance detrimentally:angry:

Lost a few yesterday? I feel your pain 😢 . Possible, yes, viable, probably not. Not in the interests of the ball mfrs either. They need us to keep losing their balls.

Yes I have one already, ProV1.
It has a chip in, connects to your phone via Bluetooth, picks up the signal from 25 metres so it's impossible to lose unless it's under water. Had it two years actually, amazing where you can find it in deep grass and jungle. Obviously can't use it in a comp as the tracking device makes it impossible to lose.

I have one of those too. Except mines the prov1x which also floats and can be guided back to shore using an app.

When fox hunting was banned, I thought they could retrain all the redundant foxhounds to find golf balls.
Each player would have their own hound, and you would have to create a unique scent for your golf ball, maybe by wrapping a few Prov1s in a rotting pork steak?

Can you tell that I've thought about this far too much?

it's also unfair in a competition context...but I would say that. Mind you - with one of these you could theoretically never just ignore a ball hit into a terrible place as you can always find it?
