I have been a bit shocked today by the negativity towards Nick Faldo, I would have thought on an english golf forum he would have been universally loved.

This got me thinking is there anyone we can all agree was or is brilliant and good for the game.

My thinking is that current problems aside (by that I mean don't agree just because he is ill) everyone loves Seve, but I may be wrong does anyone have any ideas if so please put them out there and back them up with reasons.

We all love Seve.

I cant stand the man, I dont know why, maybe because he always appears to be so boring, but all the Yanks seem to love Davis Love III.

Langer? Dont here much negativity about him? Big Monty everyone loves to hate him, I just think hes funny.

I didn't used to like Mickleson when he first appeared on the scene, far too arrogant for my liking. But he seems to have mellowed over the last couple of years and I find myself warming to him now.
I like Harrington, I love the way he saunters down the fairway.
Have always liked Freddy Couples too. Seems to have that "couldn't care less" attitude, but you know he's as determined as the next guy.

MONTGOMERIE???? I WOULDN'T CROSS THE ROAD TO WATCH HIM PLAY.

I've always liked Freddie Couples, Gary Player, Paul McGinley & DJ Russell (pro at my old club).

Gary Player is a legend he has become very outspoken so I wasn't sure everyone would agree, but as someone who has helped build our great sport I beleive it is his right to be. Arnie what a legend of the game no one mentioned Jack yet is that because he is not liked or because it is to obvious.

How about Lee Trevino

Gentle Ben Crenshaw? Greg Norman? Ernie Els? Gary Player?

I agree about Mickelson, didn't know much about him really, but lately he's become one of my favourite players to watch.

Langer is a god botherer, so that rules him out, Lehman too.

I like Cabrera, Westwood, Clarke, Jimenez, Casey, Howell, Gmac, Stenson, and Harrington, out of the current crop, and Nicklaus, Watson, Player, Palmer, out of the old lot.

Dead ones include Bobby Jones and Payne Stewart.

Lee Westwood, Daren Clarke, Woosie, and from across the pond the late Payne Stewart.

Hmmm, just noticed there's no youngsters there. Must be getting old. :D
