The club i play at is a municipal course owend by the local council and the the last 2 times i've played over winter it has been on temp greens and the course aint really been in the best of conditions but they are still charging summer prices!

It's only a cheap course to play £16 during week and £18 weekend and i have a 5 day membership but my dad and the few other people i regulary play with aint members and i feel as though they are getting ripped off as surely you can't charge summer rates when the course is on temp greens and in winter condition?

So i was just wondering if anyone elses course are stil charging summer rates even in winter?

Re: Is it normall.

Why dont you all become members,if you play regulary like you say surely it will be cheaper. My course is the same, and they also charge the same price, however even if i play only twice a week it works out £2.60 per round,i do play a lot more nearer 200 times a year so its so cheap its miles better than paying per round.

I cant speak for all clubs, but as far as I remember, of all the clubs I have played, the vast majority have different winter and summer prices

I pay for a year's subscription at my club and don't expect a reduction if there are temp/winter greens, nor do I expect a refund for the past six weeks that the course has been closed. Why should you get a discount? ;)

Well i already have a mon-fri membership but getting a full one in march/april and so is one of the other people i play regulary. I just think that if a course aint playing on proper greens/tees and in winter condition then surely you can't charge full price for it.

If i remember right last year they knocked the price down to £10 during the week and £12 at weekends.

Well i've been told by the pro the membership is going up so i'm guessing the green fee's will be going aswell.

If you know the course is in crap condition why pay the Summer rate?

Andy

Well we thought today it would be on normal greens and we had already booked a tee and it was too late to go anywhere else so we were kinda stuck and they had to pay full whack.

I am assuming the greens staff still get paid full whack, and the kitchens, and bar, and pro. How can his be if you are only paying half what you would usually pay?

Mine is a public course but I've got a season ticket so I am not affected. Have to say though that the pro shop is very good and adjust prices if holes are out of action. Also lucky that all the greens are still in use. Mind you, if it was a case of pay and play and temporary greens were in use I would not be happy about paying the full price.

But if you went to get some food afterwards and bought a meal but only got half of it would you be willing to pay full price?

Most of the P&P's around here have winter and summer prices. Several also have a fixed rate if there are any temporary greens. Why not write to the council and ask the question

Most likely going to be playing this week so i'll ask in the pro shop and see what they say about it. Obviously it's not them that set the prices but maybe they might now why this winter they 'aint reduced the green fee's for winter.
