Personally I think Westwood is a terrific golfer but I just find him to be the most boring man alive and the media's lame attempts of making him seem interesting are an embarrassment

Do you know him well then? When was the last time you spent an evening in his company?

Eh? Whats that you say? You havent? Well then how can you possibly know the man well enough to comment on how boring he is or isnt?

How do you find him boring? Hislack of affairs or his Dunlop shirts?

Well the Dunlop may have something todo with it but his whole attitude seems to be very humble and boring the most exciting thing in his life appears to be his Nottingham Forest headcover and I know I haven't spent an evening with him but I have seen him being interviewed live and he just doesn't seem to have any spark. This is not a bashing of Westwood i am simply asking if anyone else feels the same way from what they see on the camera

I have liked Lee since he 1st appeared as a pro. Always gives a decent interview imho and a model professional.

He is a very popular player amongst other pro's aswell so he must have a half decent personality.

Would you rather he was more like some of the loud yanks?

I think he wants him to wear pink trousers, throw his clubs around and give "cagey" interviews about how the course is rubbish.

I can see what you mean as he has a quiet unexcitable demeanor but give me that ANY day over the hootin and a hollerin Bubba Watsonesque shenanigans any day.

The thing i really like about Westwood is that he lets his golf do the talking. I think that's a big factor as to why the yanks don't like him

Im sorry buddy but you must be having a bad day, after 22 posts all you can come up with is this. The answer to your question, its you.Lee is under a lot of pressure,i for one dont expect him to be running around with a bloody great grin on his face all day.

The yanks don't like him because he is efficient and maybe it's his efficiency that may make him a bit dull I wouldn't go so far to put him in pink trousers but if he reads this he may be inspired (Poulter does have his own clothing line out now) I definitely don't want to see Lee in sunglasses and with a goatee that is a bit too extreme

I've only just joined this site and I'm in the middle of my GCSEs so forgive me if I don't live on this site I simply wanted to create conversation during a revision break but if u offended any of you for patronising your lord and saviour Lee Westwood then I apologise

It is just you.

I played in the same field as him several times as a junior and I can vouch for him being a nice bloke.

I don't understand how you have come to your view either. He always comes across as having a dry sense of humour and calls a spade a spade. Top man and I hope he wins today.

Now your just being patronising :)
Also hes not my lord or saviour, the trouble is bud,us English have a habit of slating winners and champions, perhaps we should take a leaf out of the Americans and recognise winners, instead of picking little faults.

Good thing That I'm Irish then! I maintain that Westwood is a terrific golfer but I thought of him being a bit damp but if you all see him ad being witty and dry then maybe my opinion is wrong

I played at Worksop (where he played his golf before turning professional) last year and everyone I spoke to at the club only had good things to say about him. 'Great bloke','Hasn't changed and is still the same pleasant person he always was'.

He still plays there and those comments suggest that he is welcomed and has not developed a big head as some could.

A world number 1 is there because of his golf and I much prefer his style to Tiger not answering questions and using a false smile. Lee may not be moving into the media after golf but I for one would love the chance for a round in his company.
I'm sure he would be a good conversationalist but in front of cameras it is unimportant.

He moans plenty about courses, moaned about one of the gulf courses this year saying "it didn't suit his eye" whatever that meant. Moaned about went worth last year because you couldn't make an eagle anymore on the 18th.

You should try following him on Twitter, his comments on there should prove to you that he's not a dullard alone.

Oh and I'd advise you to go back to your revision pronto, as your yet to learn how to use commas and full stops pal.

;)

I went to watch the Denovo at the Forest of Arden a few years ago.As me and my mates were walking from the 18th back to our car,we noticed Lee and Darren Clarke having a pint of Guinness in the players area outside the bar.Two lads in front of us stopped and struck up a conversation with Lee and Darren, whereupon Lee lifted the rope and invited them to continue the conversation over a pint,as far as i could tell these were just two lads out for the day watching the golf and not friends of Lee's.
What a shame more of the top players aren't so down to earth and approachable.
