Have you heard the saying 'form is temporary - class is permanent'

I used to have a really great ball strike when I hit my irons... it made such an awesome sound through impact. The ball flight was penetrating and it pretty much went where I aimed it.

My fairway woods were good when they were hot, with the occasional 300 yards with a 3-wood and 350 with my driver.

These days, my driver goes long(ish) but could be anywhere in the 'V' (The V being my arms open wide and the ball going in any direction but where I intend it to go)

and my ball striking is anything but great.

I've played so many bad shots recently it's all I seem to remember.

I keep telling myself that form is only temporary and that all I need to do is hit two or three really good shots in a row and I'll get my game back...

...trouble is, it's been a while since I hit two or three really good shots in a row.

To give you an idea of my state of play...a few years ago I played one of our par 5's 550 yards and I smoked two 3-woods to about 3 foot and made Eagle. I recently played the same hole and hit two 3-woods...when the second shot came to rest I still had over 200 yards to go.

Any one else have long runs of bad form?

wow 300yrds with a 3 wood what you playing off ????, 350 with your driver are you on tour, alvro quiros just warming up to take u on

so you can play abit off your handicap ,but that is seriouslly long, my regular alliance partner is off plus 2 and long but not that long, i call it like climbing table mountian, get better and better then have a couple weeks at the top then fall off and have to start the climb again

class is permanent but I play off 12, so I just hope for the odd bit of form!
If I have a bad run of form, I get help and practice hard until normal service is resumed

I think I can safely prove the answer to be no. Had three seasons of mediocrity punctuated with a flicker of competence usually snuffed in a flame of indifference next time out. My game is the epitomy of inconsistency

Agree 100%, definitely temporary.

Earlier this year I had a game on a Friday afternoon and everything went where it was supposed to and scored in the low 70's. I went to bed thinking how embarrassed I'd be winning the comp the next day by a silly margin.

Wrong! :o
