Is anyone working on something other than their full swing?

combination of short game and mental side for me, how do i take my practise ground short game to the course. ultimately when a bit tense my left hand destroys my short game, trying to reduce the impact of this but not proving easy lol

Martin, if I'm not mistaken, you've been working with the "linear method" for quite some time, if memory serves, but every post you make about chipping is basically "woe is me, the end is nigh, I can't chip to save my life and have no confidence"....Might be time to try the conventional way perhaps?

Ironically I had a conventional lesson earlier in the year. Worked briefly but the knived and duffed ones came back. Only made the decision to "go linear" again last week. Got the Gary Smith DVD's back out and worked it through Friday night. Only had 3 chips in my club match on Saturday and all worked well including a delicate one short sided. I just feel happier in the set up and the technique. I've been guilty of getting too wrapped up in technique either conventional or linear and caught between two stools. Along with the poor quality in practice and on the course I have been a bit down about it all. Now I've made a firm committment to one method I can go at it full tilt. It is coming and I'm happy it'll get better and better in the next few weeks

I have worked a lot on my full swing but only to gain trust in the contact of the ball. Since then its been precision, accuracy and 3/4 and half shots as well as many hours in the short game area.

Had my third (of six booked) lesson on Saturday. All three have been on my swing, each one working on different areas. Am going to spend two weeks working on the points from the last lesson
1. Keeping a firmer base with my knees, instead of letting them 'collapse' on the backswing.
2. Completing a full shoulder turn
3. Concentrating on my belt (hips) turning through fully on the swing to end up pointing at target

After that, I'll have another lesson, to quickly have a look at my swing again and point out any areas I still haven't got right
If that's showing improvement then I'll be having a bunker lesson (mt first). Looking forward to that as I don't have a problem getting out of bunkers but have no control at all. (I'm just happy to get the ball on the green at the moment)

Are you going to share just how well you are progressing and what a muppet you were on Friday

Not scientific and pretty rudimentary but given the fact Bash has inadvertently appeared in the wrong thread I'd say more people seem to be working on the full swing at the moment. Fascinating, well for me at least.

Robo's post is the one that surprised me the most, though I have a sneaking suspicion that our interpretation of what constitutes poor pitching might markedly differ!!! ;)

I'm working on playing.......

As i don't practice it means I can't work on anything so I just play with what I've got on the day.

Always practising short game and putting. Won a wee voucher at the weekend so going to invest in a short game lesson to see what pointers the pro can give me.

Working on my wedge play from 100mtrs and inside....Seems to be doing ok....Even though i had a shocker the weeked my wedge play from 70-80mtrs was pretty good.....

My putting....Now thats a different story...That truly was atrocious....And it has to be addressed....Im missing too many putts fro 3 and 4 feet and mostly left of the hole.

Tiger - promised I would send my first post so thanks for the encouragement. As ever, I am working on chipping and pitching.

For 20 years (I kid you not) have had variety of lessons and drills and can get comfortable on range and around practice green and garden (sometimes with 20+ consecutive evenings practicing for an hour) but can't take it to course. Have made airshot on 30 yd chip in each of last two years and had 15 duff chips (failed to hit green from 40 yds & in) in last comp.:o

I am a decent putter - but now starting to make greenside challenges look like some bizarre form of crazy golf. Any relaxation or therapy advice welcomed.

Since starting new job in August 2011 and only really having time to play 8 games tops in the last 10 months, I am now working on my weight :o

It's not as if it just jumped on me, but since no golf, my vava-voom has gone as well, reason for me putting on a large number of pounds.

So yes, I am working on my weight :D

Both - 13/15 coming in too steep and 2/15 quite spectacular thins. Off course have nice tempo can play variety of shots (high flop, low with check), on course i'm a nervous wreck

Played nine holes tonight and made two up and downs so the belief is growing. Shame the rest of the game was shocking especially the irons (3 lost balls!!!). Had a nightmare but lo go on the practice ground and there it is workign a treat. Putting it down to rushing to get out and bad tempo and a crap day at work and try again tomorrow
