Is anyone else getting " wimminned out"?

There are prominent members on here want them playing in the same competitions as men so be careful next they'll want only the same amount as women and men in said competitions.

Then again, I'd far rather watch women's beach volleyball than men's.

A few years back I worked in an office that had one of these real "wimmin's rights" idiots who would complain and moan about everything in the name of equality. Finally the management nailed her by stating that all employees had to wear proper shoes and not trainers or flip-flops which were her only style of footwear. Oh we did laugh at the irony when she came in eventually wearing normal shoes.

I don’t see why we can’t just be people, no matter our gender, colour, religion...
I have to say that I would never vote for anyone put before me from an exclusive shortlist, be it female only, male only, minority only... positive discrimination is discrimination pure and simple. I just want the best person for the job.

...that was banned under Blair! :D

As is the football and almost any sport that men do. I've worked with many many women, and can count on the fingers of one hand those I would regard as proficient in their job. Any that have been above me have been clueless.

What utter, utter nonsense. You've either had a bad experience with one and then used that generalisation across the rest of your career, or (more likely) you've been shown up to be an incompetent misogynist by a female in front of your male Co workers at some point and had a grudge ever since.

Thankfully I work in the 21st century. Our MD is female, our best sales director is female, the best sales manager is female and our best individual sales person is female. And we're the market leader in information and software technology to the legal industry, so it's hardly a female dominant environment. I've learnt a huge amount from women in my career, including one who was the best mentor in my career to date.

I've nothing but respect for women who have to fight their way through some of the attitudes sadly still inherent in our society today to achieve something close to parity.

As for the Op, unfortunately as long as excuses such as those posted in this article just last week are prevalent then we need to interfere to provide more balance.

So essentially a lot of white middle class men are feeling threatened as women may get some preferential treatment that many of them have enjoyed over centuries. There seems to be some very insecure people on here......
My original post wasn't women bashing. My question was serious. Do women celebrate their predecessors who fought a principled fight and won by demanding a preferential treatment that is equally unfair? For me the present situation in terms of representation will be improved through evolution, tokenism will do no favours for the women or the organisations that they will represent.

As an example of current issues and golf related

How many on here knew that yesterday was Women’s Golf Day ? If going by the posts on here then none

As for the sporting list - it’s very lopsided in regards American Sports and especially basketball where the salary cap is huge plus baseball and American Football /- they all earn fortunes plus even more with endorsements on top

In the workplace for year ladies were treated differently and where pigeon holed into specific roles with the idea being that they couldn’t do a lot of jobs to the same level as men but thankfully I believe that on the whole that attitude is changing and if positive discrimination helps reduce the balance a bit then I’m in favour as long as the individual can do the job to a high standard

But I have seen plenty of “positive discrimination” in the forces were Ladies were promoted before men despite not being as “proficient” in their job. It happened for a while and plenty of times it’s shown than incompetent people were given promotions based on their sex

I knew is was Womens golf day as I follow a few on Instagram, the hot ones obviously  as for women on the committee we have 2 out of 8 which is 25% yet they only have a fifth of the membership.

Friend of mine is a very high ranking fire officer I asked him the best way to get my son an interview for a job .
His answer “ if he is white , male and heterosexual he has got no chance”.
Sums it up for me.

really?

the most recent study showed that 95% of firefighters in England are male and 96% are white. 97% are heterosexual, but doubt that would be a question at an interview.

He sounds like a bitter old bigot to me.

I have also been told the same thing by fire officer - the statistics show the fire service is dominated by white males so that what they don’t want at the moment to bring more “racial” balance - it even goes down to certain forces having spots available but needing or wanting a specific person

Nope....just saying as I've seen it.

Oh and just for balance, some blokes I've worked under should be in plant pots.

In fact the higher up people go the less they are capable to the extent that those running the country are utterly clueless. I watch with no interest in what they do anymore. Just as long as they don't ask me to die for my "country" I don't care what they do. I've no influence on them, the clowns.

I'm not sticking up for them but maybe they appear clueless to you because you don't actually understand what is involved in running a country?

Which is exactly what they trying to change.

I understand that the fire service, along with a lot of other employers, wants to have a more diverse workforce. But saying you have no chance of a job there if you are a white heterosexual male is patently nonsense.

Positive discrimination is one thing (and a good thing), but trying to tell us that an employer like the fire service would exclude the vast majority of potential applicants simply on the basis of gender and race is ridiculous and is the sort of rubbish you would expect to see spouted in the Daily Mail.
