I bought some used Callaway irons on Ebay. They look legit and I also took them to AG to get checked out and the staff there confirmed that they were OK. We painstakingly compared each iron with ones in the shop and I'm satisfied they are good.

However, there is no serial number on any of the irons and I was led to believe Callies stamp the SN on the 8I hosel. The set in the shop has the SN stamped on the 8I.

Why would the SN be missing?

If the were bought originally through the Custom Fit rather than off the shelf then they almost certainly won't have a serial number. I got some RazrX Tours through Snainton and they were unmarked.
Callaway customer service confirmed this too.....

Thanks Ian I did read something like that online as well. They do have DG S300 shafts so that might explain the custom fit. The length and lie angle looked identical to the irons in the store but its hard to be sure by eye.

No I guess not the tour option then but I think the custom fit option is correct. I've had a couple of sets of Callaways with no serial and they've always been confirmed as authentic custom ordered items by local dealer.

Nice clubs BTW.

likes been said either tour van or custom fitted, ive had a lot of sets without a number.Personally I would get the loft length and lie checked as they may have to be adjusted for you.

Yeah I was very impressed with the irons when I tested them earlier this year. I also played with a chap who has these irons and he plays of 7 and was loving them

They seem a lot lighter than my AP2's even though the shaft is the same. I think a lighter iron suits me better because they felt so much easier to hit.

Might be a fluke but I will find out if the rain ever stops.
