Hi All

Ive been playing for about a year now with my Wilson Di9s (nice clubs but lofts are rediculous) anyway, I play constistently below 100 now and im looking at some new irons as I kinda think mine are beginner clubs!

Im looking at the Wilsin Ci9 or my favourites Mizuno MP-52 or MP-58.

Does anyone think these clubs are too good for someone only playing for a year? I do go to the range 2-4 times a week and I do put alot of hard work in and am playing pretty constistently.

Any advice would be great :)

Thanks
Mattie

Why not consider MX200/300s (or whatever they are now).
I think going straight to 52s or 58s sounds a little hopeful.

or let me put it another way.....I play with a set that comprises of regular cavity in the short irons and more forgiveness in the mid-irons. They are old tech Mizunos.....but at least there is some help in the mid irons which there wouldn't be with 52s or 58s. They are good enough to offer some help and yet allow deliberate shot shaping without too much fuss.

Buy what you like (of course) but just because I go round to less than 10 (sometimes) doesn't make me want to ditch what are essentially a mid h'cap club.....

I'd happily play with Ping G series or Callaway Big Berthas if it wasn't for the offset.

Hi
I just dont like the look of the MX series, I wanted a shiny blade looking club lol

I think ive got 'im a great golfer' syndrome which will probably last for a few weeks a year!!

I think I need to have a round of two with some different clubs and see how dificult they actually are to use.

Ive had em about a year. The trouble is the lofts are so stupid ie PW 42* and SW 55*, theres 2 clubs missing between sand and pitch. I had the gap wedge but it still messes up my short game. Id rather get a new set than scrap the PW and SW and get 3 new wedges.

They are custom fitted and are great so ill see how it goes this year.

I understand about not liking the look of the MX series from Mizuno. Stick an MX 300 behind a ball and then say the same thing! Admitedly, I don't like the look of the MX200s, or any of the other other MX range. But the 300s sit between them and the 52s.

I can't stand looking down on high offset clubs, and struggle to pay with them. Consequently I have just got a set of 300's. Better looking than the Ping or TM equivilents, but that's just my opinion.

I borrowed a 300 6 iron from the pro shop a couple of times and tried it out during a game. I was sold. Nothing like trying the thing on the range, and very worthwhile doing with whichever club you narrow it down to.

Have fun choosing.

I played today and went round in 93 which I was quite happy with, was quite windy too. Hopefully my scores will be coming down pretty quick with the amount of practice I put in :)

Not sure when I will outgrow these irons! Hopefully soon!
