Looking down at your irons at address where does the ball sit in relation to the face?

Toe? Centre? Heel? Is there even a right and wrong place (Within reason)?

Reason for my question.

I currently set-up with the ball in the middle of the face. With my new irons, my strike point is consistantley, fractionally, off centre towards the heel.

My ball flight is either straight, or a very gentle 5 yard fade.

Would setting up with the ball more towards the toe help?

Any opinions appreciated

Er. I doubt it.

But try it and see!

Set-up position (almost) never matches impact one.

I'm pretty much the same. hardly ever catch the ball out the toe and hit more towards the heel if anything. Aslong as I my weight doesn't move towards the ball during the swing I'm perfectly happy.

I tried moving the address position about, changed nothing.

Where I "think" I'm setting up with the ball in the middle, I have a sneaking suspicion it's more towards the heel of the club than the centre of the face.

Maybe a touch further away may help.

I think you have to work out where you strike the ball on the face and make any change required to get it in the sweetspot.

I tend to address more towards the toe, this gives me the best results. I think the reason is that as I swing the rotational force on the club and my arms tend to throw the club slightly away from me as the club and my left arm create a straight line, at address there is an angle.
