Iron head covers

Here we go!!

Black gloves.....shorts.....remote control trollies......'funny' headcovers.........black shoes and shorts.........

They'll all be along soon enough.

Seriously though. I reckon that if you've just got youself a nice set of forged clubs, then you'll probably want to protect them as much as possible. I can't blame you for that. I'd probably do the same.

I can see their use on new shiny forged clubs but come the winter in pouring rain they are a right pain. It also looks odd once you lose a couple and so the majority are covered except for the odd random club.

Sorry guys, I use a set, and as a result, my irons are in good nick. I can't see why I wouldn't use them, as bag chatter makes a new set look old within a week.

They keep forged irons as they should be. That will give you more confidence in them for longer. The clubs are an investment and they should be protected in todays financially difficult times. You may well get more for them when you sell them on later.

Well I've had mx25s for about 18 months and they still look superb w/o covers.

My old forged irons took such a battering without them, so as soon as I got my new set I ordered some. I got the neoprene ones (on ebay) and they look great, they even have the Mizuno logo on. But I don't really care what people think, I cant afford for my irons to get damaged again.

Mixed comments but i have to say that as others have mentioned i intend to keep my irons for a few years hence trying to give them a little protection. I presume those who have left negative comments don`t protect their drivers or woods with covers?

surely they only preserve the cosmetic appeal of the club.

they wont prolong the effectiveness of the groves which are the parts of an iron that wear.

i dont have, too much hassle putting on and off. I like to hit and find.

I know there are some that will laugh at me here but i have them also and i use wilson Di7's there still nice and shiny since day one.
Also one advantage with them is that the new modern driver and woods headcovers i think dont come far enough down the shaft any more eg. Ping G10 and a short club like a wedge or putter will do alot of damage to these over time.

I use these

On my AP2's, you can still see the clubs and my irons are still like new well over a year later, looking a little like these....

I thought that Golf clubs were for hitting things with? a bit of bag chatter isn't going to hurt. Catch a few, under the grass, stones or a few bunker shots and they soon mark up anyway, but if you like them use them. Personally I don't like them.

I had always used the longer ones when I had graphite shafted irons to protect the shafts from bag rub rather than the clubs from "bag chatter".
Didn't bother with my current clubs 'cos they are steel shafted but I've got to be honest....there are quite a few "ding marks" on them. Too late now, the damage has been done.
I don't see a problem with using them, they don't slow you down at all.

Hi

I have Mizzies and always use headcovers. Keep the irons in great condition and stops that godawful clank, clank, clank of irons banging together.

Just me
