Irish Open 2015

I see Rickie Fowler has shown Rory how to do it with a round of level par. I remember that round (a 68 I think?) he played at Royal St Georges in 2011 in atrocious conditions, a class performance.

TBH from what i saw Ricky had a fair bit of luck, but thats golf for you;)

Rickie is class in crappy conditions. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him grind out a win this week.

Paddy Harrington is knocking it around nicely ..

Pity neither Paddy or even God knows whats to come ...

Would love to see Big Shane win it

Lowry just had a couple poor holes - playing cracking golf though

I agree. It's near the end of May for gods sake. Yes it's not the type of very warm and pleasant conditions they experience just about every week but will it kill them to play in slightly different conditions? Or does every tournament have to be played in 23 degree heat where you can fly the ball into every green? They need to man up.

It may be end of May but we had better weather for golf in November,December and March than we have now. I regretted not taking gloves with me to watch the pro-am yesterday. Temp was about 10-12 but felt more like 4 or 5 with wind chill and rain.

What's wrong with wearing mittens ?

The hands are massively important to them whilst playing and keeping them warm is vital

Th winds in N Ireland can be bitter

The wind isn't the only bitter thing over here ;).

Just watched a bit of this on TV earlier, and ive gotta say i hate this sort of golf. Watching the pro's look like club golfers. Just doesnt appeal to me what so ever.

I know everyones different, but i prefer to see all the top guys scoring low and everyone having a birdie fest

Just watched some of the highlights on the European tour website. Great stuff from Padraig Harrington. Some glorious views of the mountains of Mourne as well.

Harrington played the course perfectly. Although admittedly he had the better conditions this afternoon.

Looking at the forecast for tomorrow it seems the rain is due to come in after 11am and stay for most of the day.

McIlroy is gonna need a miracle to make the cut.

The par 3 seventh is an evil little hole. My mate hit one onto the adjoining fairway, but he will not feel so bad now that Rory has done the same. The area you can land the ball on when the flag is at the front is tiny, and into the wind it was a good six iron. I did manage an up and down for a par though.

Shane Lowry putting with a wedge since the 12th (his 3rd hole) after doing a Uri Geller on the shaft after a bogey.

He had a bit of a moment yesterday as well - smashed his putter into his bag

He just did a Course VLOG with Rick Shiels, Pete Finch and Golf Monthly's Neil Tappin and seemed like a great bloke. Great banter, dry sense of humour, and a bloody good player.

I don't know much about Lowry but every time I see him on TV I always think he looks and come across as a bit of an ass.

Have met him and he is a nice guy who gets down on himself when playing golf - displays the demeanour that he is miserable but he is just a dry person - has a cracking sense of humour but is intense on the golf course.
