Hi,
I have an Iphone 3G and i am looking for a good Golf apps for it, can anyone advise me on apps that they have used and what they think are the best. Price is not an issue.

as far as i know u will not be able to use it in comps as the phone is not just a device for giving distances u may be better off with a GPS

You have to careful as mentioned above, as some can give you green readings and elevation etc. So the simplest ones are often the best as there's no argument as to whether you used thosed functions or not.

From that point of view Freecaddie (Pro) is good. Review in reviews section.

There's been a spate of apps recently.

GPS.
Viewti
Freecaddie
Sonocaddie
Golfshot
to name a few of the better ones.

Swing Analysis.
V1
iAnalyze Golf
iSwing
Myiswing

Rules.
igolfrules

Instruction.
Golf genie

Scorecards and stats.
Viewti
Golfshot
Sonocaddie
Accelgolf
A lot of the GPS apps also feature score and stat trackers.

And so it goes on.

It would be a test in itself just to try all of these.

Not much help I'm afraid, but it's a start for a short list.

Be aware of the fragility of phones and the golf course environment (rain).

Thanks Haplesshacker that’s great,
I will read a few reviews and see what comes up.
Yes your right, the iphone is really poor with the rain, mine you so am i.

Some don't have reviews. But that doesn't mean that the app is no good. For what it's worth, I'd probably plumb for the GPS / stats of Viewti and the swing analysis of V1 or iswing (which I currently have and use in conjnction with ianalyzegolf, though I needed to use photoshop to extract pics from iswing to ianalyzegolf).

I'm realy waiting for Scoresaver2 to come out with an iPhone app that will link with my SS2 stats on the home computor.

I have used Freecaddie Pro on a windows mobile device.(smartphone)
It works great for me. You can edit the course files online at the freecaddie website or whilst you are on the course. It also has a Measure shot facility as well as a scorecard facilty.
As far as I know it works exact same on Iphone.
You can download the basic version for free at the freecaddie website and try it out. The pro version costs about £10.

i too have been looking for a GPS app for the iphone. going by the reviews on the itunes store i think that GolfShot GPS maybe quite good.

haplesshacker,
How do you find using the scoresaver2? i have heard about this and tried to down load it on the net but only get the trial period version, looks good.

Sonnocaddie app is awsome. I am a fan of the sonnocadie device and when I stumbled across the Iphone app I couldn't beleive it when they let you download one course for free. I took it out today and it was spot on. Yardages were good and it has great features like score card, stats, mark your shots etc.

Cant wait for the full version to be available.

Sadly our course is not listed! So it's not the Sono for me at the moment.

I've been using it for over a year. It's certainly a sophisticated bit of software. Very easy to record the few bits of info required during the round. Though being able to drill down into the stats and then be able to see the bigger picture as well is great. BTW if you look on my website there's a discount code for SS2! Sorry folks. There's a link coming!

With these App's do you need 3G coverage?

Is there anyway of finding out if your course on the likes of Viewti as i got a funny feeling not alot of the courses in my area will be on the likes of this.

thanks in advance
