I'm not an Apple fanboi but my experience is that they are very good with customer service and helping to resolve issues with kit that's well out of warranty.
Could it be that you have a dual band router and that you broadcast the same SSID on both 5ghz and 2.4ghz? HID phone happens to be connected at the time to the .11a/n radio and yours connected on the b/g/n radio?
There are various tests you can do at home, I would start by checking the router and seeing if both bands are selected. Depending on what router you have you can create a separate SSID for each band and then you can repeat your speedtests knowing exactly what WLAN (and band) each iphone is connected to. Make sure that you are comparing apples with apples.
If you have multiple routers or repeaters then you could both be on the same band but on separate channels (associated to different routers/repeaters) and that could easily explain the difference in performance.
I'm having major issues with my 6, since the last update I struggle typing and have to switch the phone on & off to get the keyboard to work at times, it reset my preferences to do not disturb on the last update which I didn't notice and wondered why I was getting so many voice messages left when the phone went into stand-by until I checked the Apple forum, it's been and is a friggin' a nightmare phone since I changed from my HTC to iPhone!
I reckon I could be looking for a new phone over the weekend!
never liked Apple in the beginning.
I'm now converted and their IOS knocks android out the park
