So my wife and i have exactly the same phone (iphone 6) both up to date with the latest iOS, both with exactly the same settings.

Her wifi on speedtest gets 3.2Mbps down and 1.09 up, mine? 30.4 down and 9.1 up! Both phones next to each other, one test after the other. Anyone any ideas? I have just done a complete reset of hers, tried everything i can think of. Both now out of apples crap 1yr warranty and if i have to see an 'expert' at the 'genius bar' you may read in the news about a bearded prick being beaten to death. (i dont have a beard)

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

May be wrong but weren't there 2 chip sets for the 6 built by different manufacturers and one is better than the other

No idea, bought both phones the same day in the same shop, so I doubt they are different, will check though!

Read this, some people have managed to get it sorted in various ways.

Thanks, the common theme on this one is swapping to WPA2. I have been on wpa2 for years, so its not that. I am 99% its not a router or wifi issue, its an issue with the iphone. one has 2 bars of wifi, one full they are actually right next to each other. its doing my nut in and i know i am going to have to pay apple to fix it...

Interesting, if you've tried everything else (disabling all other devices in the house which use wifi) so just that one phone is connected etc etc, then it has to be the phone which is fecked.
The real answer though is, you should have got a Samsung ;)

just popped to my brother house and did the same test, phones next to each other, speedtest. Mine 26mb, hers 6mb. its the phone.. damn it..

Sounds like you are the hard charging go-getter type and she is more chilled out, and your phones have just used their beta AI to adapt to your personalities.

lol i will tell her that! maybe you are right, but i still get moaned at when here facetime call drops with her brother, or she cant download something...

Could you not take it to the shop and try the Sales Of Goods Act malarky?
I imagine it wasn't cheap so on that basis you would expect it to last longer than 1 year before it fails.

From the Guardian website...

"Take the example of an Apple ipod that breaks down outside the standard one-year guarantee. The usual response, or at least the response from both the Manchester and Birmingham Apple Centres, is don't bother getting a repair. Staff say the cost of repair would exceed the value of a £300 40Gb model and refuse a free replacement. Yet iPods are designed to be portable and take a reasonable amount of wear and tear. Consumers should follow the advice of Which? (right) and demand refunds when the fault is not of their making."

More seriously, if you phones are showing the same signal strength and getting different download speeds, I would take them back and they not to beat a nerd to death. Slowish downloads are one thing but dropped FaceTime calls is a problem and worthy of complaint. I have generally found the Apple genius bar guys to be pretty helpful.

Festival Place? It ain't so bad. I go there sometimes myself.

yes, really? my estimations of you have gone down! I could not think of a worse place to visit!! LOL

Currently having an online chat with apple, to be fair they have been quite good so far and have run a remote diagnostics on it, they do say its fine though and are trying to blame my network.

Well apple got me through to a senior tech that also couldn't work it out. They are going to run some more remote diagnostics. To be fair, i have been very impressed with the service so far considering its out of warranty and kind of works, just not as it should.

I had a faulty iPhone just out of warranty, they offered to replace at a pretty reasonable price,I ended up blagging it & they gave me it free,as a good will gesture.

252 days our of warranty and apple have just agreed to replace it free of charge! Has had their engineers scratching theirs heads, but bravo apple! Fantastic customer service!
