Anyone else watching them ?

Great to see the heart and dedication of the athletes

A good friend - Sean Rose ( ex RAF PTI ) is a studio guests

But we have Commonwealth games which sits alongside the Olympics so why not this?

Because it's not the remit of the Invictus games - Prince Harry explained them perfectly yesterday

They are all about rehab for the military personnel who wouldn't normally get the chance to compete - the classifications aren't as strict as the Paralympics - it's more relaxed with a sense of competivness with pride from the military people - it's not looking to become a big global sporting event - that misses the point of them.

They are perfectly set up and the level they are pitched at is perfect

Sigh. Every point has to argued to finite detail. I was actually supporting the Invictus as the others had done. All I said was I hope it grows into a much larger global event in an attempt to give these athletes a platform to compete. Never mentioned anything about the level of competiveness. I only used the Commonwealth Games as an example that a secondary events can run alongside the Olympics. How it's run and what parameters are used to make up each event is irrelevant and I'd argue that the bigger and more of a brand/name/event or whatever you want to call it the bigger the global audience and the bigger the awareness of the work being done

It's not about arguing any finite detail

It's trying to explain to you the exact point Prince Harry has made about the full remit for the event

It has no intention of turning into the global event you mention in your earlier post

It's not intended to run alongside any other event if only to possibly be a stepping stone

The full remit and future of the games was full explained by Prince Harry and it's mission statements etc are all on the website for everyone to read

Rehab and sport for the British Forces along with its allies

I watched Prince Harry so well aware of what the remit is. I think it's a superb event but let's not forget, it isn't just Britain and its allies being injured. What better message would there be in years to come if those injured from whatever nation could compete irrespective of border, alliances or politics and use sport to spread the word on what can be achieved by the human body and the power of the mind of the individual
