Interviewing Pros mid round

Apologies if this has already been discussed....
Just watching Irish Open coverage on Sky and on course reporter has just interviewed leader Jon Hahm as he walks from green to tee.
I've never seen this in a stroke play comp before, maybe during Ryder Cup?
Is this a new thing?

I was happy as I re-wound it on Sky and then used the quotes for my coverage article

Don't agree with it myself though.

I assume that certain Pros have agree in advance that it's ok to be approached, but there will be a few who have said "don't even think about speaking to me"!

And it possibly helps them switch off for a while in-between shots..

I think there may be a discussion at some point about who would and wouldn't want to be interviewed. I like it as a different way of presenting the coverage. Whether in the heat of the final round at Birkdale players fancy stopping for a quick natter is a different story
