Internal out of bounds

Glad to hear it. Agreed with Snelly in his earlier post about the 4th not being too much of an issue but the 10th would be spoiled. Personally I would have pegged it up and aimed for the last tree on the right and hit it as hard as I could (bound to go a bit left or right and be fine!). Making the tee shot easier would have spoiled a cracking par 4.

Whilst I don't like internal out-of-bounds, if it's there to stop players taking a short cut on a dog-leg via another fairway and/or to protect other players, then fair enough.

We had one where i used to play to stop people cutting a par 5 dogleg, the committee decided it should be removed never played it when it was removed but it must of been lethal for people playing the 9th with some people aiming that way and not knowing if the way was clear.

I played a course this summer in northants. Name escapes me. Will look it up later, but I remember si2 third 7th I believe it was had internal oob even though the adjacent fairway was protected by a free line I wouldn't have got over with a pw. I sometimes wonder if maybe it's not just a cheaper way to make a hole appear more difficult.......

We have internal OOB on the right on our 4th hole, I don't like it because I tend to slice the odd time. But my slice is well below forum average and will land about 280  where it can be clearly seen by myself and on coming players .
But forum distance hitters do try to cut the dogleg over trees , which makes most of intended ball flight and landing area out of view and into the path of unseen f/cs playing the 3rd
.We also have internal OOB on the left at our 3rd but IMO can't see the need for it, In more than 30ys playing here I have only ever seen one golfer going OOB at the 3rd, I wont divulge his name yet , yes he is a forum member.

Used to have an internal OB at Farnham down the 18th when playing the first. 18th is down the left miles from the first fairway, and would need a huge hook to reach it. I was playing a match against a non member, and being a nice chap was explaining the hole to him, and all the hazards. Never thought to mention the 18th as had never seen anyone go OB there. Unfortunately when he teed up I realised he was left handed, and he then proceeded to hit the biggest slice I have ever seen.
