Ok with all the talk of accidents and the threads that have followed out of curiosity who has insurance already, who intends to get it and who is not bothered?

For me I am thinking about it but with xmas and winter coming is it really worth it? Game of luck really!

I never have been, but am considering it. I don't like the idea, but in this at fault, no accident world we are moving into, it now makes sense.

At my previous club it was a must have, as there were some holes where your tee shot was across and over a green so the risks were there. It also covers club theft, and for £60 for worldwide cover it's not overly expensive.

Got it for two main reasons. The liability cover is the obvious one, but I tend to store my clubs in my locker especially in the summer and it's to cover me for theft or accidental damage as well

probably will for the reasons stated above. My clubs aren't covered by my household insurance and even though I've got legal cover, I'm not sure it's specific enough to cover me in the case of hitting someone.

For £30 a year it buys a degree of peace of mind

covers me and me clubs... also quite handy as our 18th goes right next to the road and off the tee i tend to go there more than the green and its traffic lights and they can see exactly who tees off.. also i seem obsessed with the road

only if you're not going to hit a ball again. Wouldn't be without it in this claim culture, and obviously the hole in one cover will come in handy soon....

Every intention of hitting balls come the weekend.

Hole in 1 cover costs a quid behind the bar.

To be fair those of you with home insurance will find that you have up to £5million personal liability insurance already and will most likely to be covered for a golf related accident, I checked with mine and I was covered. I reckon in most incidents the golf insurance counter claim against your home insurers. I still got my kit covered though as a named item on my home contents.

Like somebody mentioned for peace of mind it's a must, £30 to get you out of the trickiest of financial situations. Plus if the sticks are pinched from the locker that's covered too.

Home insurance covers me for any liability and I've specified my clubs under my personal belongings so no need to buy any other cover. Think theres a lot of scaremongering going on and people are panic buying cover they don't necessarily need

Woo hoo common sense prevails. I have been saying this for about 18 months but nobody pays any attention to me :(

In the light of the thread about the recent case I checked with our club sec and our membership fees include personal liability cover on the golf course. Gear is covered by my household insurance.

just renewed mine, the policy came yesterday along with three unexpected vouchers for three free rounds of golf. The three free rounds will save me more than if I had spent on the rounds and not renewed, plus gives me the opportunity to play three new courses next season. I'm good with it.

I had the misfortune to have a golfing 'near miss' several years back. I managed to knock a ball OB and onto a main road. Fortunately it only took out the drivers side headlamp, (the soiled seat cover was washable!) The driver was a bit shaken, I was a bit shaken and afterwards when reviewing what could have been it was obvious that a major incident had been avoided by inches. Had the ball struck the windscreen who knows what would have happened.

Been insured ever since.
