Improver irons, why so expensive?

Smudge has it hit it on the head. Its economics, people are willing to pay this amount of money for them, therefore manufacturers charge this.

I think people get caught up with having to have one of the big brands at times. (I am as guilty of this as anyone!)

I too am probably guilty of this but only because all of my golfing friends have led me to beleive ya only get what ya pay for and i think this is true. I have a mate who dont give two bogeys what he uses (RYDER from argos) and isnt bad but when he's tried any of my callaway gear he's been impressed. even with a rain glove i lent him. Now i intend to take this game seriously enough to get quite good at and that means playing twice or maybe even three times a week. Therefore i think i can justify paying what i have (and i am not well off at all but in the last few months ive prob spent almost £800 on gear) so i am going to get my fair use out of it. My (ryder gear) mate plays maybe once every two weeks so there is no point in him paying out as much as me.

Conclusion = If ya play enough then its worth paying out for the good stuff. If not why bother.

*breaths*

TO be fair there are plenty of decent game improvement irons that do not cost an arm and a leg, just look for the companies that do not spend a fortune on advertising or on sponsoring tour pros. Companies like MD, Benross, Ben Sayers and, more recently, Orka, offer some great quality kit with great components at reasonable prices. It is the same with anything in life, to a certain extent you are paying for the label. A T-Shirt from Tesco can be the same quality as one with a designer label but costs about a third of the price.

Im not sure why they are so expensive in general terms, but the reason that improver clubs are often more expensive than expert clubs is because the companies are always trying to develop new methods for providing extra forgiveness to put in these beginner clubs, and they are passing the price of this research over to the consumer.

Hi there
I'm just about to put a set 4-PW Benross VX5 + a Benross 20 degree rescue up on ebay if you are interested.

Send me a message and make me an offer!!!

The biggest bargains in good solid clubs like callaways are last years models, who cares if they are using x16s, 18s or even the new 20's. If you game improves due to them then great. Buy iron covers if you think your fourball would be disgusted! haha.
