Lawnmowers

Really ?!?

Even if they are password- and possibly GPS-protected ?

Unbelievable … ! 🤬
Yup. Someone would steal it just for the sake of it, maybe just to smash it.

This is not a private garden we are talking about, it is an open industrial estate that has people walking through it at all hours.

I'd happily have a robo for home.

Why should it ?

The clippings Robby cuts off are so small that you can’t even see them, and they also serve as fertilizer for the lawn.

It’s a completely different approach: Instead of mowing once or twice a week, Robby works every day. This keeps the grass short from the start, rather than cutting long grass short. There’s no need for a bag to collect the clippings! 🤷‍♀️
If it makes you happy, then fine.
Personally, I dont see how constant grass cuttting chipings will break down quick enough to not block the soil and encourage moss if topped up every day and also unless it can do stripes it's out straight away :)

I saw a presentation from Husqvana(?) on robot mowers for golf courses and these did stripes, you could choose between various patterns. Over time I think they will become better, cheaper and more efficient (than today’s methods) and I’d be surprised if they wouldn’t be used widely at most courses.

I'm quite sure there are high end commercial robotic mowers, but we all due respect, having paid for a commercial grade rotary mower I don't intend to spend probably 5 times that just to be able to sit and watch it mow beer in hand ;)

My old house had a 400m2 lawn that took me two hours to cut and I couldn't fit all the cuttings into the bin. If I was still there, I would get a robot mower and let it do all that work for me.
My MiL’s old lawn was 400m2. It used to take me about half an hour with a self-propelled Honda mower. 40 minutes if I strimmed the edges.
And that was fortnightly, so the grass was long.
If you’re cutting grass a couple of times a week there’s no need to collect the trimmings every time; only if it’s a long cut. Mulching the cut grass back into the lawn is great for its health.
